Gale Signs for 2020-22
25th October 2019
The South Sydney Rabbitohs have retained the services of young, up-and-coming star Lachlan Gale for the next three seasons. Gale, 18, is a South Sydney junior from the Mascot Jets club who plays in the front row. He played in the South Sydney SG Ball under 18s side throughout the 2019 season and made his Jersey Flegg under 20s debut this year as a 17-year-old, going on to play in six matches, scoring three tries. Gale started in the front row for the Australian Schoolboys side that defeated New Zealand in September, a selection earned on back of starring performances for the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges team and his school side, Marcellin College, where he won the Nathan Gibbs Sporting Excellence Award for his achievements throughout his six years at the school.
Rabbitohs General Manager of Football, Shane Richardson, said: “Lachlan has got this opportunity with the senior club due to his hard work and diligence, however it is also a testament to the great work Souths Juniors does in developing great, young footballers who want to progress and become Rabbitohs of the future. “He is a great defender and strong carrier of the ball, and we see a great future ahead for him. He’s another young player that we are bringing through the ranks and we’re really proud of the fact that we can offer these opportunities to the best young players from our district now that we are fielding pathways teams in all of the NSWRL competitions. It’s part of The Rabbitoh Way to provide these opportunities to kids that show they want to achieve their best and work hard to do that. Lachlan is one of those kids and we’re looking forward to seeing him progress over at least the next three seasons.”
