1908 South Sydney Australian Selections

Australia played its first ever test match against the returning New Zealand professional team. The following South Sydney players Arthur Hennessy and Johnny Rosewell wre selected to start the match while Jim Davis was named on the reserve bench.

Hennesy became South Sydney's and the first Australian test captain. But that didn't last long after he was felling in the early minutes of the game, which resulted in the New Zealand player being sent off. This allowed Jim Davis to come off the reserves bench and also play in this first Australian test match.

Later in the year Tommy Anderson, Arthur Butler and Bill Cann were selected to play against New Zealand or the Maori teams.
