This match was played as a preliminary match for the first Australia v NZ test match. Hennessy, Rosewell and Davis were unavilable due to representative duties. This was Cumberland first competition match after missing the start of the season.
South Sydney and Cumberland met at the Agricultural Ground. Sydney, this afternoon prior to the New Zealand-Australian engagement. The result is to count in connection with the First Grade Competition. In the first half Bloomfield kicked a capital goal for Cumberland from 10 yards on his side of halfway, and Anderson and Hanna got tries for South Sydney. Each kick at goal failed, and the scores at the interval were 6 to 2 in favor ot South Sydney. The second half was all in favor of South Sydney, the final scores being 23 to 2.
