Played on Birchgrove Park in the presence of a moderate attendance, and won by South Sydney by 16 points to 2. Mr. McMahon was referee.
South Sydney won the toss, and chose the northern end. Ward led off for Balmain, and the South Sydney forwards made a rush, and by splendid passing, took the ball right down the field, and A.Butler scored an easy try. The same player converted. South Sydney, 5 to nil. The game was very fast and determined, South Sydney showing to advantage in passing and general combination. Balmain struggled hard, and a penalty gave them an opening, which Latta turned to account by kicking an easy goal. South Sydney, 5; Balmain, 2. A.Butler picked up from a scrum, and after some capital passing Jarman got across. Conlon converted South Sydney, 10 to 2. Several rushes by the visitors almost ended disastrously for Balmain, but they managed to get out of the difficulty each time. Two penalty kicks were given against them, but Conlon failed at goal. The half-time whistle sounded soon afterwards.
J.Davis set the ball rolling in tile second half, and it was not long before Rosewell broke through and gave the ball to Conlon, who passed to Jarman, and the latter scored in the corner. Conlon failed at goal. South Sydney, 13 to 2. Storie broke away in his own 25, and after some capital passing H.Butler scored. Conlon again failed at goal. South Sydney, 16 to 2. The game continued fast and oven furious to tho end, but there was no addition to the score, South Sydney winning by 16 to 2. Balmain were quite overmatched.

Matched was to be played as a preliminary game to the Australia v Maori fixture. However the match was postponed due to the condition of the playing area, which was underwater.
However in a sensation the Maori tour has been disbanded, and today's match abandoned, due to all moneys of the team being impounded due to the Mr.Jack court case.
