This was South Sydney first premiership clash against new commers Annandale. Annandale started the game with a stiff breeze blowing against them. South attacked, and kept the ball in their opponents territory for some time. Davis then tried to kick a goal from a mark, but his effort a good one, missed and Hedley forced. Soon after starting, M'Cabe got hold and passed to Spence, who kicked over the line, and Hallet, following on, scored. Davis added the goaL. South Sydney 5. Annandale nil. The Annandale players secured in their own 25, and carried the ball to South's territory, where Lyons got hold and scored. Hedley failed to add the extras. South Sydney 5, Annandale 3. Souths kept up the pressure, Cann passed to M'Cabe, who scored. Davis kicked the goal. South Sydney 10, Annandale 3. South Sydney penned Annandale in their own half until Roy Norman marked, and relieved his side. They were soon driven back again, by a fine passing rush by Rosewell and Cann. Rex Norman secured at half-way, and carried the leather to South's line, where he lost it. Cann secured near Annandale's line and passed to McCabe, who scored near the post. Davis again kicked the goal. South Sydney 15, Annandale 3. These were the half-time scores.
On resuming, South Sydney kept pressing until Rosewell picked up, and passed to Cann, who scored in the corner. Davis failed to convert. South Sydney 18, Annandale 3. Annandale attacked, and Roy Norman scores, Ray Norman converted. South Sydney 18, Annahdale 8. Souths now took a turn at attacking and Hallett, getting hold, passed to Cann, to McCabe, who scored. Davis converted. South Sydney 23, Annandale 8. Hallett, broke away near centre, and was tackled near the line, and the ball went out. From the scrum McCabe passed to Fry who scored. Hallett converted. South Sydney 28, Annandale 8. From a scrum, Hucker passed to Butler, who scored. Burge failed at goal. South: Sydney 31, Annandale 3. Levison got the ball from the scrum, passed to M'Cabe to Hallett to Fry to Anderson, who scored. Rosewell failed to convert, and the final scores were: South Sydney 34, Annandale 8.
