WIN 13-10
In the later match at Metters' Oval. Glebe set the ball in motion, from the return L.Cubitt got possession. He resisted all attackes, and worked his way through to the line, but there he lost it. Hard scrum work followed, and Gleesen, getting the ball from the open ran in and scored for Glebe. It was a good position, but the kick for goal failed. A fine passing rush, in which Spence Butler and Cann figured, resulted in Cann getting over in a good position, and scoring. Conlon added the extra points. Gilbert soon afterwards scored another try for South Sydney, his effort at goal failing. Hallett also crossed over and scored, but Gilbert was unsuccessful at goal. At this stage Anderson had to retire through injuries he sustained in the scrum. Darmody kicked a penalty goal. And the half-time score was 13 to 3 in favour of South Sydney. W.Fry, Collier, and Hickey came on at half-time in place of Anderson, Conlin, and Brown; while Coxon, Nicholls, and Pearce spelled Butler, Darmody, and Hilliard in the forwards.
In the second half T.Maher kicked two penalty goals for Glebe, and towards the close of the game L.Culbitt, by a great run, in which, he cleared all his opponents, scored in a good position, but T.Maher failed at goal. The play throughout was fast. J.Leveson and H. Gilbert were the most conspicuous South Sydney backs, which will need to improve to surpass teams like Newtown and Balmain. Hallet's display was only fair, if we except his punting, and McCabe and Conlin were quite on the slow side. W. Cann was in the thick of most of the hot forward work in their first spell, but later fell back to strengthen the three-quarters. With Darmody and Spence absent in the second half, South Sydney fell away a lot, and at the finish many had found weak spots in their condition. A Glebe forward kicked somewhat indiscriminately just prior to tho half-time whistle, and later in the game was cautioned. C.H. McKivat displayed improved them in the second half. The forwards heeled well and broke up much more quickly, and generally displayed better combination than those of South Sydney. But the success of the Glebe team was surely Cubitt, a recruit from the City and Suburban competition. He possesses considerable pace, is an excellent side-stepper, and should prove, with McKivat, a successful five-eighth for the Reds. Garlick and Gleeson (a try), with Bendorff, promise to make a good three-quarter line. Malone (three-quarter) kicked two goals, but was hardly up to the standard of his colleagues in general skill. The three brothers Burge and Swinson were leaders in the Reds' pack.

WIN 3-2
The first half was evenly contested, both teams ahaping well. Western Suburbs, however, with the sun behind them, had slightly the better of the game, but could only put up 2 points, a penalty goal by Tully, against South Sydney's 3 points, a try by Thompson. In the second half both teams indulged more frequently in passing rushes. Toward the closing stgaings of the game Western Suburbs pressed resolutely, but the defence of the three-quarters and Freeman, the fullback, was too sound, and time was played out without any further alteration in the scores.
