David Fa'alogo 2008-11 Contract Extension
2nd April 2007
The South Sydney Football Club is pleased to announce that Kiwi second-rower David Fa?alogo has re-signed with the Rabbitohs for the next four seasons. Fa'alogo has developed into one of Rugby League's premier second-row forwards, having made his debut for New Zealand in the 2006 Anzac Test. Fa'alogo also represented his country throughout the Tri-Nations series at the end of last season, and was awarded the George Piggins Medal in 2006 as the Rabbitohs' Player of the Year. Fa'alogo remains at the Rabbitohs despite substantial offers from other NRL Clubs and from overseas. Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson said Fa'alogo's re-signing is a further boost to the Club's spectacular start to the season. "It's fantastic to see a player of David?s ability show loyalty to this Club with a view to helping the Club achieve greater successes," Mr Richardson said. "It's great to watch a player develop from a fringe first grader through to a respected international at the Rabbitohs and see the hard work begin to pay off for him. He has the ability to become one of the world?s best second-rowers and we're glad that he will be doing that, alongside some of his countrymen, wearing the red and green." Fa'alogo's manager Gavin Orr said: "David is happy to have re-signed with the Rabbitohs as he wants to be a part of the re-emergence of the Club. He thought long and hard and about his position and he decided that the Rabbitohs were a Club he wanted to be associated with. The Rabbitohs are showing they are a Club players want to be a part of and David wants to achieve success with the Club." Fa'alogo made his first grade debut for the Rabbitohs in 2003 and has played 79 NRL matches to date, plus five Tests for New Zealand.
