Rabbitohs Launch new Website platform
17th December 2007
The players are not the only ones working hard in the off season to improve their game for 2008. The Club will be launching its new website platform next Monday 17 December. The web development team have focused on making the new site more visually navigable, readable and easier to use. Instead of waiting to launch the new website when every element was ready, the Club will be launch the BETA or phase 1 version of the new site first. You will be able to sign up for Membership, purchase merchandise and view breaking news and video stories. It will also have a taste of some features we are bringing on board for 2008, along with all of our Club departmental information and links.
For the techies amongst our Members and supporters, the new website has been built on a .NET as apposed to ASP platform (ASP being the current web platform). The new web platform will allow the Club to enhance and build greater member-network, media and fun web features into the website in 2008 and beyond. This being said, some of the features of the current website will go offline until late January 2008. These include the Season Engine (Game previews, interactive draw and schedule, as well as enhanced player profiles).
The other major area of development taking place over the next 4 weeks is delivering a new FAN ZONE with the new Members Only Forum to be known as THE BELL. We investigated ways to try and keep the current forum active during the phase 1 launch of the new website but due to the difference in platforms and a conflict of Member Usernames and Passwords between the two systems, we will need to deactivate the current forum with the Fan Zone going live 17 January 2008. There will plenty of links to send us your feedback on the new website and we will be listening. Although the Member's only forum will be offline for 4 weeks, we encourage all Members to return to the site and wish the Rabbitohs a happy 100th birthday as their first posts
Members Web Forum Shutdown
11th July 2008
The SSFC Members web forum has been discontinued. Members will appreciate that, as the "publisher" of the content on the forum, the Club remained potentially liable for the public comments of its Members and it was felt by the Board and Management of the Club that the seriousness of that liability far outweighed the need for the continuation of a web forum. The Club thanks Members for their contributions to the web forum and encourages Members to send their questions, feedback and comments directly to the Club.
