A Bears combined with a Newtown loss has elevated the South Sydney feeder team the North Sydney Bears to the top of the NSW Cup table after 4 wins from 4 outings. But it was a scrappy game. Heading into the final 10 minutes the Bears were down by two points, before Verlinden was able to get a ball away to Nathanial Barnes who they were not going to stop up the middel of the field he ran around the fullback laughing. He is a absolute speed machine. The game was then sealed with a final try in the 79 minute and 57 second mark with Samu Wara scoring his second try. Buddy Gordon missed two kicks from in front. But set up brilliant try from 10 metre flick pass. Mitch Williams and Shaune Corrigan also made their debuts off the bench. Ben Rogers came off with about 20 minutes to go with injury.
