South Sydney feeder team the North Sydney Bears were just too hot for the Auckland Vulcans. The North Sydney Bears scored their eighth straight win on Saturday, downing Auckland Vulcans 48-18 in their NSW Cup match at North Sydney Oval. The Bears led 32-6 at the break. "At half-time I tried to demand as much as I could," Bears coach Wayne Lambkin said. "And once they got back on the field they played with the same style and intensity as they had in the first half." North Sydney began to slow in the last 20 minutes with what Lambkin described as a case of "we've done enough now". "But I was happy with the result they played well," he said. "We now have a real belief in what we are doing as a team and the more we do it the stronger we become." Scott Geddes, who had been out with a knee injury since round two, made a strong comeback. Half-back Jeremy Smith was a stand-out for the coach and fullback Samu Wara received the players' award. Lambkin said the secret formula was the team's attitude. "We're looking for consistency every week and taking a professional attitude into our preparation, training and games," he said. "We've had a fantastic start, but that doesn't come without effort. "In saying that, our dream start doesn't guarantee anything at the end of the year we don't know what's ahead. But to get these early wins and to be on 16 points is a bonus."
