Northern Suburbs Rugby Club have joined forces with the North Sydney rugby league Bears to stage a unique double header. Northern Suburbs Rugby and the Bears will play first grade games back-to-back at North Sydney on Saturday, August 2 against Wests in what many are saying is a footballing first. The Rugby boys will play West Harbour at 1.30pm with the rugby league Bears finishing off what should be a fantastic day at 3.10pm when they take on the Western Suburbs Magpies. This is part of the festival of football in St Leonard's Park.

This was a game of two halves. The Bears controlled the match easily in the first half, despite gifting the opposition with 10 points. Wests final try just before half time coming from a penalty from a incorrect play the ball. Leading 22-10 at halftime. Bears came out in glorious sunshine a completely different side. Wests scored inside 4 mins and it was already evident the Bears were not focused in the second half. Wests piled on point after point with Bears dropping off tackle after tackle. As the scored 28 points. This was compounded by the injury to Jaiman Lowe. The Bears lead the competition but are starting to look shaky.
