Simpson 2010-11 Contract Extension
30th July 2009
South Sydney Rabbitohs utility Jamie Simpson has re-signed with the Club for the next two seasons today. Simpson, 22, has been rewarded for his hard work and effort over the past two seasons at the Rabbitohs with a contract extension for 2010 and 2011. Simpson has become one of the Rabbitohs main attacking weapons, scoring eight tries in the last seven weeks. He will play his 25th NRL match this Sunday against the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium. “Jamie’s development has been one of the highlights of our season so far this year and we’re pleased to have him on board for at least the next two seasons,” Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson said. “His performances on the field this season have matched his commitment to the Club and its community off the field. “He is part of Souths Cares’ teachers aide program, he is the ambassador for Cure our Kids, he is a regular visitor to the Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick and Westmead Children’s Hospital, and he does a lot of other community work on his own time. “His story, as a cancer sufferer who has beaten the disease twice to lift himself to the heights of the NRL, is an inspirational one and we look forward to continue watching him develop as a first grader over the next two seasons.” Simpson is very happy to have re-signed with South Sydney today. “I’m really happy to be able to stay here at Souths,” Simpson said. “I’m really enjoying playing here, and doing the work in the community with Souths Cares is very rewarding. “I think we have a very good team here at the moment and we’re only going to get better.
