After a 5 day turn around Souths produced a scrappy display only over coming Newcastle in the final 15 min of the game. The kicking game from our halves continues to let us down with no repeat sets of six for the first 5 rounds.
Issac Luke has taken the lead in teh Dally M point race with another great display at dummy half. In 2010 JL has asked Issac to step up and play 80 min and with our monster forward pack he is doing great.
In one of the craziest NYC games I have ever seen saw the Knights race away to as 0-22 lead with Souths only holding the ball for about 3 tackles in that first 15 min of the game. Then in a complete form reversal Souths equalised at 22-22 15 min later, then went on to win with 82 points being scored in the game.
Since the introduction of the 10m rule in 1991 we have seen a growth in the player sizes with a average player now 5kg heavier that 18 years ago. This has increased the collision impact and the injury rate. This week it is reported that Souths have the following forward pack on the sidelines Asotasi, Falloon, Ross, Tyrrell, Pettybourne, Crocker injured. In the juniors they have reduced the 10m back to 5m to reduce the impacts and improve the skills of the halves.
