The South Sydney Rabbitohs have announced the signing of former Sharks, Panthers, Eels, Dragons and Salford City prop forward Craig Stapleton for the remainder of the 2010 season today. Stapleton, 31, has played 105 NRL games and 52 English Super League matches since debuting for the St George Dragons in 1998. He was selected in the 2006 Prime Minister’s XIII to play Papua New Guinea and the Australian Kangaroos train on squad after a stellar season for the Panthers. He won Salford City’s player of the year award in seasons 2008 and 2009. “Craig will add depth to our forward stocks for the rest of 2010 and will help galvanise our forward pack with his tough style of play,” Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson said. “He has a high work-rate and doesn’t shirk any of the hard work. He has shown he can play at the top level and we’re looking forward to having him assist our charge towards the finals this year.” Stapleton will join the Rabbitohs this week and will play against the Brisbane Broncos this Sunday at 3pm at Suncorp Stadium
