Souths fell to the pressure of semi-final football after a well drilled Melbourne team put on 14 early points and 2 tries from simple scrum set plays. There was aperiod between 10 min and 25 min where we made a error and gave away 6 penalties to lose the match. Luckily we have a second chance. But we need to focus on road road ahead.
Congratulations to Adam on picking up the Dally M Rookie of the year. We were also we represented in the nominations across most positions this year also.
George Burgess became our only player to qualify for all 3 grades. After playing in the U20's preliminary semi. He will now step up into the NSW Cup semi next week.
Poor disipline combined with a inability to defend against scrum set plays was our downfall today. It was not our young players but our more season players who were not able to address a Storm surge for 15 min Effective 1st tackles was very poor in the first half as we invited the Storm to dominate the game..
Looking at our left side defence - Merritt-King-Sutton-Pettybourne (2-0-1-0) was improved at 3 from 10 missed tackles last week. On the right side Everingham-Farrell-Reynolds-Taylor (3-2-2-2) was still poor at 9 from 12 last week.
On the positive side our missed tackles and error rate for the match as whole was good. Our go forward was steady this week with Sam Burgess, Taylor, Crocker and Luke cracking the 100+m. Defensively Crocker was our best in the tackling raking up 38 tackles. With Asotasi, Pettybourne, King and Clark not missing a tackle
