Souths have broken a hoodoo and won their first semi-final in 25 years in a powerful forward display. One win away from teh Grand Final.
Issac Luke made a welcome return to the starting lineup of the team destroying Canberra up teh ruck and paving teh way for a great go forward for the team.
Congratulations on Ryan Carr and Justin Hunt in making the NSW Cup team of the year.
Poor disipline by Canberra along with a powerful forward display and a great kicking game by Reynolds was the story of the match. Effective 1st tackles was improved in the first half as we dominated the game, but we did allow Canberra back into the match with 2 quick tries once again.
Looking at our left side defence - Hunt-McQueen-Sutton-S.Burgess (0-2-0-2) was steady at 4 from 3 missed tackles last week. On the right side Everingham-Farrell-Reynolds-Taylor (3-2-1-5) was still poor at 11 from 9 last week. Taylor continues to miss a large number of tackles.
On the positive side our missed tackles and error rate for the match as whole was good. Our go forward was great this week with Sam & Luke Burgess, Luke, Asotasi and Taylor cracking the 100+m. With Luke and Asotasi averaging 10+m per run. Defensively Sam Burgess was our best in the tackling raking up 27 tackles. With Sutton, Peats and Tyrrell not missing a tackle.
