The England squad will gather in South Africa for a pre-tournament, high-altitude training camp this month as they begin preparations for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.
Rabbitohs prop forward Luke Burgess has been called into the England national squad for their International series against Wales and France throughout October and November. Luke has joined brother Sam in the squad, following the suspension of Bulldogs and England prop James Graham for biting at the NRL judiciary last night. This is Luke's first international squad call up.
Rabbitohs co-captain Sam Burgess has withdrawn from the England Rugby League squad for their autumn International Series against France and Wales. Burgess will undergo knee surgery to clean up a pre-existing injury, an injury through which he battled all season with the Rabbitohs. Two high-qualified surgeons recommended that Sam gets the surgery done now to ensure he can prepare for the upcoming NRL season, as well as avoiding any further complications throughout the rest of his career. Burgess will return to training during the upcoming pre-season preparations for the 2013 NRL season with South Sydney. Sam will miss out on the opportunity to represent England alongside older brother Luke who was called into the England squad
