The South Sydney Rabbitohs are pleased to confirm the re-signing of co-captain Michael Crocker until the end of the 2013 season. Crocker, 32, has led from the front for the Rabbitohs since joining the Club in 2009, and is endeavouring to become one of a select few players to have played in and won Grand Finals with three different NRL Clubs. Crocker has played in five NRL Grand Finals including a premiership victory with the Roosters in 2002 and a Grand Final victory in 2007 with the Storm. Crocker has played 201 NRL games of which 65 have been in the cardinal and myrtle of South Sydney, represented Australia in six Test matches and played State of Origin for Queensland on 13 occasions. Crocker is recognised as one of the true leaders at the Rabbitohs, helping lead the Club to its Preliminary Final appearance in the 2012 season. He was the joint winner of the Bob McCarthy Clubman of the Year award for 2012 at the Rabbitohs alongside co-captain Sam Burgess. Crocker is delighted to have re-signed for a further season with South Sydney. “I’m really happy about going around for another season and it’s an exciting time to be part of South Sydney,” Crocker said. “We’re working on building our own history at this Club, and I really want to be part of it. “The Members have always been very supportive and we’ll be working very hard to build on this year’s performance for them in 2013.” Head Coach Michael Maguire says that Crocker’s leadership and experience will be key during the Club’s 2013 premiership campaign. “Michael’s leadership qualities really shone through in 2012 as part of our five-man captaincy group,” Coach Maguire said. “He is, and will be, an integral part of this group growing and taking the next steps forward. “His experience will be crucial in guiding our younger players and helping us to create what we are trying to create at this Club. “We’re excited to have ‘Crock’ back on board for 2013.”
