After 3 years the Charity Shield is back it belongs. Souths had a dominant first half before dropping their guard for 10 mins with the young guns bagging a few tries at the end. And did you see Sutto's kick almost took out the Chopper Cam !!
Great to see Ben Te'o in a Souths jumper. He was solid in defence and alog wit hChampion closed down any right side attacking raids. Really looking forward to how this progresses.
Great to see Dylan Walker, Kyle Turner and Mitch bucket play in the Charity Shield. Add Keary and all looks good as generation next arrives.
After so many years of the NRL being behind the 8 ball, it was refreshing this week to see two great initiatives the NRL interactive e-brocher and the new NRL interactive Add where you can build your very own version. Well done. Here are the links
In our first stat attack for the year. Stats were in line with last years Charity Shield with only 5 starting players surviving from last years starting team. Effective 1st tackles was a very respectable 27.5m for the match showing the work that has occurred in the off season.
Looking at our left side defence - Goodwin-Farrell-Sutton-McQueen (0-0-1-0) was great at 1 missed tackles. On the right side Everingham-Champion-Reynolds-Teo (1-0-2-1) was also a very respectable 4.
On the positive side our missed tackles were better than any game last year at 13 but errors were high at 14. Our go forward was low with no forwards making 100m during the match due to having 10 players on the bench. George Burgess was the best making 7.5m per hitup in his 11 hitups. Defensively Lowe was our best in the tackling raking up 36 tackles. With Goodwin, Champion, Farrell, Luke, McQueen, Crocker, George Burgess, Tyrrell and Clark not missing a tackle.
