We led the comp and finished co-leaders getting pipped for the minor premiership. Then in a game to make the Grand Final we lead 14-0 but lost or focus and evenutually the match and bowed out of the premiership race. It was a disappointing end to what was Souths best season since 1989. And a season where records were broken and other rewritten.
For the 2nd time only in Souths history has a player scored 100 goals in a season. Adam now joins the legend Eric Simms and is heading towards joining him in the point scoring record books.
The last try by Dylan Walker meant he has scored 150 points across the 3 grades in 2013.
After a good year the Bears came up against the red hot merged Cronulla-Melbourne reserve grade outfit, who proved too good with the best reserve players from two NRL clubs. In the end it proved to be too much and the Bears have bowed out one game away from the Grand Final.
While we support the Bears case for re-admission, we do need to consider a return of Souths Reserve Grade. Its a hollow feeling when an affiliate club wins a trophy that rightfully should be added to a proud 20 premierships Souths reserve grade tally.
Statistically it was a poor game as dropped ball and our left side defence was poor letting 4 tries. Completion rates dropped to a very poor 67% from 89% last week. Defensively George Burgess was our best in the tackling raking up 36 tackles. With Tyrrell, Luke Burgess, Te'o, Clark and Asotasi not missing a tackle.
