WIN 54-10
The Rabbitohs have blitzed the bottom of the table Tigers to record their 9th win of the season and retain top spot. The Rabbitohs got off to a flyer when Beau Champion sprinted through a gap. He found Inglis who beat a couple before Nathan Merritt danced down the wing. Reynolds couldn’t convert but the Rabbitohs led 4-0. Bryson Goodwin made another break soon after. This time debutant Dylan Walker was in support and Goodwin found him for his first NRL try. Greg Inglis soon extended the score even further, the beneficiary of an Issac Luke break from dummy half. Reynolds converted the two quick tries and the Rabbitohs led 16-0 after 12 minutes. The blitz continued when off the back of a Tigers error Adam Reynolds threw a bullet to Beau Champion who scored on the right. Reynolds converted for a 22-0 lead. Just three minutes later an Issac Luke scoot gave Sam Burgess some space and he set up younger brother George under the posts. Reynolds was left with an easy conversion and the score was 28-0. Sam then scored his own four-pointer when Issac Luke again caused the Tigers headaches from dummy half. Reynolds was left with another easy one and the score blew out to 34-0. Minutes later Greg Inglis scooped up a loose ball 5 metres from his own line and sprinted 95 to dot the ball down out wide. Reynolds couldn’t convert and those would be the last Rabbitohs points of the half. The Tigers would get their first points of the match in the 39th minute when Robbie Farah’s clever kick found Marieke Koroibete on the left wing. Sironen missed the conversion and the Rabbitohs took a 38-4 lead into halftime. After the break the Tigers nearly made it back-to-back tries when Curtis Sironen barged over after repeat sets. The call went upstairs and the Video ref ruled no try for obstruction. The pain was compounded for the Tigers when Adam Reynolds scored a brilliant solo try from 50 metres out, skipping past a defender and scoring under the black dot. He converted his own try for a 44-4 lead after 48 minutes. An arm-wrestle developed and the Tigers looked to have settled but John Sutton soon cut them open and laid Greg Inglis on for his hat-trick. Reynolds converted again and the Rabbitohs cracked the half century with 17 minutes to play. The Tigers fought hard and were soon rewarded when a Liam Fulton ran from dummy half, wrestling his way over and just grounding the ball. Curtis Sironen converted for a 50-10 scoreline. With time ticking away the Tigers were deep in their half when an error gave Reynolds possession. He palmed off a defender before cleverly grubbering ahead for Greg Inglis to pounce on the ball for his fourth of the night. Reynolds couldn’t convert as the siren sounded and the Rabbitohs recorded a resounding 54-10 win and retained top spot.

Late Changes Watts started at five-eighth. Hawkes dropped to teh bench. Whitelaw dropped off the bench. The South Sydney Rabbitohs have scored a thrilling two-point victory over the Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium tonight (Friday), winning 26 points to 24. The Rabbitohs 16-6 at the half time break and 26-6 with 20 minutes left on the clock, but a spirited comeback from the Tigers almost led to another narrow defeat for the South Sydney under 20s. Prop Daniel Smith was held up over the line in the ninth minute, but it would only take three more minutes for co-captain Cameron McInnes to score the Rabbitohs' first try. Will Paterson converted to take the score to six-nil. Four minutes later halfback Christian Hazard scored his first try, and Paterson's conversion extended the lead to 12 points. The Tigers hit back through Luke Williams in the 30th minute and Manaia Rudolph's conversion reduced the deficit to six. A try to Aaron Gray in the final minute of the half gave the Rabbitohs a 16-6 lead at the break. Hazard scored his second in the 46th minute after a long break from Gray, Paterson's conversion taking the scoreline to 22-6. Gray then added his second try in the 59th minute of play, extending the lead to 20 points. The Tigers mounted a huge comeback through tries to Shane Lalogafau (64th minute), Dallas Graham (67th minute) and Manaia Cherrington (72nd minute), reducing the deficit to two points. Strong defence in the closing minutes would hold see the Rabbitosh hold out the Tigers, scoring a well-deserved 26 points to 24 win.
