Inglis, McQueen and Te'o 2013 Queensland SOO II Selections
Rabbitoh trio Greg Inglis, Chris McQueen and Ben Te'o have once again been selected in the Queensland team for SOO II match at ANZ Stadium. Chris has rewarded for his everts with a starting spot in the second row.
Merritt called into 2013 NSW SOO II Team
South Sydney winger Nathan Merritt has been called into the NSW team to replace dumped Raiders player Blake Ferguson. Merritt, who was the NRL's leading try scorer last season, received the call up after Ferguson was stood down from Origin II and had his NRL registration suspended in the wake of a police charge for indecent assault. The Rabbitohs winger had been under consideration for Origin I and was in contention for the team named on Sunday after St George Illawarra officials expressed concern about the fitness of fullback Josh Dugan. Merritt's selection will be a popular one as many have questioned why he had never represented NSW before after consistently being one of the NRL's top wingers. He was also the leading try scorer in 2006, becoming the first player to do so from the team finishing last, and is on track to achieve the feat for a third time this year as he shares the lead on 11 tries with team-mate Greg Inglis and Newcastle's James McManus. He becomes Souths first NSW SOO representative in 4 years.
Johnston and Whitelaw NSW U18 Selection
South Sydney Holden Cup players, Alex Johnston and Cheyne Whitelaw, have been rewarded for their good form in 2013 with selection in the New South Wales under 18’s side. The team will fly to Brisbane to take on Queensland in the curtain raiser for State of Origin II at Suncorp Stadium. The South Sydney Rabbitohs wish to congratulate both Alex and Cheyne for their selection and wish them the best of luck for their upcoming match.
