The South Sydney Rabbitohs are pleased to announce their teams to take on the Melbourne Storm on Friday 16 May at ANZ Stadium in the NRL’s Women in League round, with the NRL kick off scheduled for 7:40pm. Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire has named the same side that defeated the Titans on the Gold Coast on Saturday, with Joel Reddy and Ben Lowe added to an extended bench. The Rabbitohs and the Storm will play for the Crown Resorts OCRF Charity Challenge, raising money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. Crown Resorts will make a cheque presentation to OCRF for $20,000 before the game on Friday night, and the teams will add to the kitty with a further $1,000 being added for every try that is scored during the NRL match. The teams will play for the Crown Resorts Charity Challenge trophy which will be presented to the winning team at full time at ANZ Stadium. Both Clubs’ jerseys will also feature the silver ribbon to help raise awareness of OCRF and their efforts in research into ovarian cancer, and both Clubs will auction off the game day, player-worn jerseys following the match with proceeds from these auctions going to OCRF. Match attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase a silver ribbon at the game on Friday night, or make a donation to OCRF online. The Rabbitohs will also be celebrating the Women in League round with a march past of female Members and ticket holders during the pre-match entertainment at ANZ Stadium. Each lady will be presented with a pink cap courtesy of match day partner AFEX. Keary, Luke, Centrone, Champion, Picker were unavialble due to injury.
This Friday’s match between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Melbourne Storm will see the launch of a brand new concept – the ‘Crown Resorts OCRF Charity Challenge’. Thanks to Crown Resorts, major partner of both the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Melbourne Storm football clubs, and the Crown Resorts Foundation, the match will serve as an opportunity to raise funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF). The Rabbitohs and Storm will be competing for the Crown Resorts Charity Challenge Plaque, awarded to the victor. The Crown Resorts Foundation will donate $20,000 on game day, and has also pledged to provide a further $1,000 for every try scored during the match.
