WIN 32-10
A depleted South Sydney Rabbitohs have made it four wins in a row tonight (Friday) against the Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium by 32-10 – with young guns Alex Johnston and Kyle Turner both picking up try-scoring doubles. Without the likes of Origin representatives Greg Inglis, Chris McQueen and Ben Te’o – in addition to the loss of Dylan Walker, Joel Reddy and Bryson Goodwin through injury – the Rabbitohs set about deconstructing a Tigers side missing both Robbie Farah and Aaron Woods with strong performances from the Club’s young brigade. The Tigers started poorly when straight off the kick-off, Martin Tapau dropped the ball on the very first tackle – giving the Rabbitohs first crack deep within Tigers territory. But a short-ball from halfback Adam Reynolds to Joe Picker was dropped by the back-rower early in the tackle-count – relieving the pressure from Wests. But the visitors went straight back onto the attack, almost scoring from their first set. Poor ball-control from the Rabbitohs aided Wests in receiving repeat sets on the South Sydney line, but after three repeat sets and a near try from Pat Richards, the Rabbitohs’ defence held strong. A charge-down from Joe Picker on the 40 metre line saw the back-rower regather close to the Tigers line, again allowing Souths an opportunity to score. John Sutton put up a well-placed cross-field kick that was regathered by Issac Luke, who in turn passed on to Alex Johnston to score out wide. Adam Reynolds made no mistake from the touch-line for a six point lead. After the Tigers dominated the opening exchanges, the Rabbitohs began to swing momentum in their favour with some enterprising attack that almost yielded two tries to Kirisome Auva’a – the young centre being denied by inches on both occasions. Despite being on top for much of the half, Souths’ attack struggled to convert their opportunities into points, until Kyle Turner strode through the Tigers line straight up the middle off a scrum at close-range. Adam Reynolds added the extras from in front to make it 12-0 in the Rabbitohs’ favour with the score being the same at half-time. The second half started just as poorly for the Rabbitohs as the first did for the Tigers, with Souths taking the ball out on the full – a moment that led to the Tigers’ first try of the night through Blake Austin next to the sticks. Pat Richards converted to make it 12-6. But Alex Johnston was about to make a huge impact. Dashing through the Wests Tigers defence who were down a full-back thanks to James Tedesco receiving treatment, Johnston turned on the pace to race 70 metres up the middle of the field to score under the sticks for his second of the night. Reynolds converted to make it 16-6. After 13 minutes of the second half, the Rabbitohs continued to attack the Tigers line when Sam Burgess got a ball away to Nathan Merritt who slid over from close range to extend the Rabbitohs’ lead to 24-6 with Reynolds’ conversion. With 18 minutes remaining, James Tedesco notched up a four-pointer as Kirisome Auva’a struggled with a leg injury and George Burgess left the field for treatment. Pat Richards failed to convert, with his kick hitting the upright to leave the score at 24-10. With the clock winding down, both sides began to show signs of fatigue with silly errors beginning to creep into the game – depriving both teams of opportunities. A line drop-out from the Tigers that went out on the full allowed Reynolds the opportunity to kick his side a further two points ahead from right in front to make it 26-10 with six minutes left. With a minutes left on the clock, Kyle Turner bagged his second of the night to make the final score 32-10.

NYC Cup Round 14
5:30pm
LOSS 18-28
Late Changes Cottrell Makoare-Boyce Felila were out. Young started wing, Simone center and Liam Coleman on the bench. The South Sydeny Rabbitohs’ NYC side has gone down to the Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium by 28-18 in round 14 of the Holden Cup. It took 13 minutes for the teams to finally draw first blood, and it came in the form of the Tigers’ Mitch Moses slicing through the Rabbitohs’ defence before racing 30 metres to score under the sticks. Matt Woods converted to give the Tigers an early six point lead. Wests were at it again just minutes later when Moses passed onto winger John Tohi on the wing, who raced the remaining 20 metres down the touch-line to score to make it 10-6. Moses continued to dominate two minutes later when he again raced through the Rabbitohs defence to notch up his second try of the night – bettering the position to score under the sticks. Right on the stroke of half-time, the Rabbitohs finally got over for their first points of the night when Wallace Tangiiti chipped across-field for a flying Sam Young to pluck the ball out of the air and score. Irae Simone converted from the touchline as the siren sounded to make it 16-6 in favour of the Tigers at half-time. The Rabbitohs went on the offensive in the second stanza with Tulsa Saumamao barging over from close range. Simone converted again to make it 16-12. But the Tigers would hit back through John Tohi, who raced over in the far corner to extend the Tigers’ lead. Mitch Moses converted from the touchline to make it 22-12 with 15 minutes remaining. Wests weren’t about to be trumped, when Watson Heleta went up for a high ball from short range to score under the posts. Matt Woods converted from close range to make it 28-12 with nine minutes left on the clock. The Rabbitohs wouldn’t give up though. With two minutes remaining, front-rower PJ Los’e crashed over under the sticks from short range before Simone added the extras to make the final score 28-18.

NSW Cup Round 15
v Manly-Warringah, Leic Sat Jun 14 2:00pm
LOSS 22-54
The game was moved from Brookvale Oval to Leichhardt Oval after the poor state of the Brookvale Oval surface after the recent rains.
Late changes Tuqiri, Luke Burgess and Jackson Garlick are out. Jackson Williams starts center, Worboys five-eighth, Keary halfback, Lupi prop. With Aldridge Toole and Simone Kite on the bench. The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles kept their slim finals chances alive with a comprehensive 54-22 victory over the North Sydney Bears at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday. In a match where the points being scored were largely keeping up with the minutes on the time keepers stop watch, it was the Sea Eagles who were doing most of the damage. A three try effort by two time NSW Under 20 Origin representative, Clinton Gutherson, was supported by the likes of Jamil Hopoate and Manaia Rudolph who were also excellent on the day. Prior to kick-off, the Bears were boosted by the inclusion of young Luke Keary who was returning from a long stint on the sidelines, although his inclusion was offset by the fact that both Lote Tuqiri and Luke Burgess had gone around for the Bunnies at ANZ Stadium the night before. Gutherson scored the first of his three tries in the third minute after he won the race to a beautifully placed Rudolph kick, however the scores were locked up at six a piece in the 13th minute when a Worboys kick landed perfectly in the bread basket of a high flying Curtis Johnston. Unfortunately though for the Bears, this was to be as close as they would get to Manly on the day. A blitzkrieg of four tries in the space of nine minutes to Manly, where the Bears could not get their hands on the ball, effectively ended the match as a contest. Tries to Hopoate, Chee Kam and Hodges, as well as a second to Gutherson, saw the Sea Eagles take a commanding 28-6 lead approaching the half time break. Just when all appeared lost for the Bears, they gave their supporters some reason for optimism as another pin point Worboys kick found a winger, this time the right winger in O'Dare, saw the margin cut to 16 points at the break. Needing to score first to have any hope, the Bears did just that as McInnes scored near the posts, and with the Keary conversion you felt we had a match on our hands. However, all the Bears try did, was spur the Sea Eagles back into action again. Five unanswered tries to Manly, some of which were scored far too easily for the North Sydney Bears coaching staff's liking, ended the match as a contest and handed the side from the northern beaches their fourth win of the year and brought them to within three competition points of the eighth placed Jets. As we alluded to earlier, Gutherson, Rudolph and Hopoate were dangerous all day long in a match that played to suit the speedsters while Worboys stood out for the Bears, laying on three of their four tries on the day.
