A massive turn-out of around 5000 proud Rabbitohs Members and supporters, were on hand at the Club’s open training session at Redfern Oval today (Monday) to cheer on their team as they prepare to take on the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in Sunday’s NRL Telstra Premiership Grand Final. In scenes that more closely resembled a match-day, complete with jerseys, flags and loud ‘South Sydney’ chants, Rabbitohs of all ages watched on as Head Coach Michael Maguire ran the boys through their paces. For long-time Rabbitohs Member’s such as Kevin Hetherington, the day was an opportunity for Members and supporters to remind the team of the weight of support behind them from the Rabbitohs Family. “It’s just a fantastic day, and even though they hear us cheering every week, it’s just great to be able to remind the boys that we’re all behind them,” said Kevin. “To see this many Rabbitohs Members and fans all here, cheering as though it’s a game day, waving flags and really painting the area red and green – it brings a tear to your eye and we just can’t wait until Sunday.” The day marks only the beginning of a week packed full of events surrounding this year’s decider.
