2015 - The Cyber View from the Hill

15th April 2015

Cowboys a new Hoodoo Team

That is now 4 games in a row that we have lost to the Cowboys. They are becoming our new hoodoo team and one of the teams to beat in 2015. Of course it didn't help that we didn't have two key play makers in Reynolds and Sutton. But the Cowboys tonight exposed a tired ruck defence. It is looking like the hectic pre-season schedule is starting to catchup with Souths.

Brown debut

Nathan Brown is our next player to make his debut becoming the 1110th Rabbitoh. Congratulations to Nathan after spending 4 weeks as 18th man.

Olive and Musgrove promoted to the Bears

John Olive and Zane Musgrove became the latest U20's players to graduate up into the Bears squad, well done to both players.

U16's secure finals spot

Congratulations to our Matts U16 boys who played a sudden death match and qualified once again for the finals in 6th spot.

Monday Night Football has to go

Whats the go with two of last years Top 4 teams playing on Monday Night Football? Someone needs to stand up to broadcasters and address match scheduling. MNF continues to be a turnoff for fans with kids and workers no longer attending. We need to shift this game back to a Sunday afternoon timeslot. Whats wrong with 2 x 2pm and 2 x 4pm Sunday games being shown live?

Round 6 - Stat Attack

Statistically Round 6 just like last week was a huge defensive effort. 2 weeks in a row we have had to make 400+ tackles. Completion rates improved to 82% this week. Errors improved to 6 from 11 last week. We gave away 8 penalities this week compared to 7 last week. Souths Effective 1st tackle for the dropped to 39.3m from 37.6m last week. We also missed 29 tackles which is in the average range but improved in only allowing 2 opposition offloads compared to 11 last week.

Looking at our left side defence - Johnston-Goodwin-Stewart-McQueen (2-1-1-1) decreased this week to 5 from 8 missed tackles last week. On the right side Reddy-Millard-Keary-Grevsmuhl (1-2-2-2) decreased to 7 from 11 missed tackles last week.

Our go forward dropped this week to 1229m this week. Inglis, George Burgess, Luke and Brown lead the way in making 10+m per hitup. With George Burgss, Inglis, Goodwin, Luke and Grevsmuhl making more that 100+m in the match. Defensively George Burgess and Luke was our best in the tackling raking up 46 tackles. With Grant, Lowe and Brown not missing a tackle.
