South Sydney Member Company 9th Annual Meeting
1st March 2015
The Member Co Annual General Meeting was held this morning (Sunday) at Redfern Town Hall, no vote was required for Member Co Board positions, and two new Life Members were also inducted. The Rabbitohs' board was re-elected un-opposed on the day following the withdrawal of a candidate, Frank Zappia.
Rabbitohs legendary try-scorer, Nathan Merritt, and Club Trainer and Chiropractor Terry Coulits have both been awarded Life Membership at today’s Annual General Meeting at Redfern Town Hall. Merritt made his first grade debut for the Rabbitohs against the Auckland Warriors at Ericsson Stadium in 2002, before going on to play 237 NRL games over 13 seasons, including 218 first grade games for South Sydney, making him the second-most capped Rabbitohs player of all time behind his contemporary and fellow Souths Junior, John Sutton. Merritt, the Rabbitohs’ George Piggins Medallist in 2011 as the Club’s best and fairest player, holds the Club record for tries scored in first grade, crossing for 146 tries for South Sydney, having scored on debut back in 2002. Merritt also kicked 34 goals and one famous field goal at the Sydney Cricket Ground against the Wests Tigers for a Club total of 653 points. Terry has been involved with the Rabbitohs since 1989, initially as a trainer and in 1991 was appointed as team Chiropractor. Terry currently holds his position as Chiropractor with the South Sydney NRL squad as a valued member of the Club's football staff. On behalf of the whole of the Rabbitohs Family, congratulations to both Nathan and Terry for their Life Membership.
