WIN 24-8
The South Sydney Rabbitohs have added another chapter to their rivalry with the Dragons at the SCG, deconstructing the Saints by 24-8 in front of 18,217 Members and supporters tonight. A controlled performance from Adam Reynolds and Greg Inglis helped the red and greens to victory, with Reynolds picking up a freakish try off the SCG pads while also setting up a try for his halves partner, Luke Keary mere moments later. Reynolds also broke through the 700 career points mark with a personal haul of 12 points tonight. In what was a fantastic team performance though, the Rabbitohs missed only 11 tackles during the course of the 80 minutes – keeping the Dragons to two unconverted tries. A mistake from Cameron McInnes inside his own half saw the Dragons get first meaningful use of the ball, and after Ben Creagh nearly got the ball away for a try, Justin Hunt seemed to be the beneficiary of an overlap. Hunt dived over in the corner inside the first five minutes to seemingly open the scoring, but the video referee deemed that Hunt had lost the ball. But it would be Dylan Walker who would take first try honours when the Test centre took the ball from dummy-half before racing 30 metres through the Dragons defence to score a brilliant solo try. Adam Reynolds slotted the conversion beautifully millimetres in from touch to give Souths a six point lead. An opportunity went begging when John Sutton burst through the Dragons line just over half-way with Greg Inglis in support. Sutton opted to pass on to Inglis, but the Rabbitohs skipper briefly took his eye off the ball only to knock on. With nine minutes in the half remaining, a penalty to the Rabbitohs 38 metres out, and on a slight angle, saw Adam Reynolds take a shot at goal. Reynolds’ attempt missed the mark but was bizarrely allowed to go dead by the Dragons, giving the red and greens another shot at the line on the back of a 20 metre drop-out. Another two penalties from the ensuing set saw Reynolds get another shot at goal, this time from just over 10 metres out. Reynolds made no mistake to make it 8-0 with six minutes remaining. The Dragons would have the final say of the first half though when Justin Hunt managed to better his earlier attempt by scoring under similar circumstances to his disallowed try. The teams would go into the sheds with the Rabbitohs leading 8-4. On the resumption, an arm wrestle ensued that saw both teams trade opportunities and penalties as they went from end to end in search of points. Bryson Goodwin would give the Rabbitohs a perfect opportunity when he earned his team a repeat set thanks to a well-weighted kick that would catch Josh Dugan in-goal. Benji Marshall went short with his line-drop-out, but it would prove a costly error in judgment, with a back-line movement from the Rabbitohs going through the hands of Reynolds and Inglis before hitting an unmarked Alex Johnston to score out wide. Reynolds’ conversion attempt was off target, leaving the score at 12-4 with 20 minutes left on the clock. The Dragons got back on the board with 11 minutes in the match remaining when Josh Dugan did well to juggle the ball down the touch-line before stepping through the Rabbitohs outside backs to plant the ball down just inside touch. Gareth Widdop’s conversion attempt was waved away leaving the score at the 1965 Grand Final score of 12-8 – only this time in Souths’ favour. But Adam Reynolds was about to turn the tide. With the Rabbitohs on the attack at the northern end of the ground, Reynolds grubbered into the upright before picking the ball up off the pads to score a brilliant try. The half converted his own try to make it 18-8. Reynolds was at it again with just under four minutes left when he again grubbered into the in-goal and found a flying Luke Keary, who picked up the ball to score a four-pointer to seal the match. Reynolds made no mistake from right in front to make the final score 24-8.

U20 National Youth Holden Cup - Round 19
v St George-Illawarra, SFS, 5:15pm
LOSS 18-26
Due to the wet weather this week, a venue decision on the playing surface of the SCG has resulted in the NYC fixture being relocated from the SCG to the SFS next door. The cricket pitch area was the most effected.
Late Changes Simone started fullback, Makare-Boyce on the wing. Preece dropped off the bench on the bench.
The Rabbitohs have gone down to the St George Illawarra Dragons by 26-18 at Allianz Stadium this evening in the NYC with three players sent off. Despite the Dragons being down a man for much of the match after the sending off of one of their players for a head-butt, the Saints were able to remain in control to fight out the victory. The Dragons’ Hame Sele and the Rabbitohs’ Eden Syme were then sent of on the stroke of full-time. Despite the wet conditions, the opening stages of the match were played at a frenetic pace – the Dragons spreading the ball with little regard for the lack of grip on the football. And while the Red V would be given a number of opportunities on the Rabbitohs line thanks to a string of penalties and repeat sets, the red and green defence held strong. With 14 minutes gone though, it would be the Saints who would draw first blood when a Thomas Carr break just over half-way eventually saw the winger draw and pass to fullback Matt Dufty to score a long range try. Carr backed up with a try of his own mere minutes later when he got outside his opposite and raced to the corner-post to dive in millimetres inside the touch-line. James’ conversion attempt was waved away leaving the score at 10-0. The Rabbitohs would go back on the attack though and when they finally found themselves within striking distance, Angus Crichton barged his way in under the sticks, defying three Dragons defenders to plant the ball down. Hedges added the extras to narrow the gap to 10-6. The match took a slight turn when Dragons prop Jack Kavanagh was sent off for head-butting after being tackled – the Saints reduced to 12 men for the remainder of the match. After trying in vain to go through the middle, the one man advantage finally yielded points for the Rabbitohs when Jordie Hedges spun the ball out the back-line before landing in the hands of Irae Simone who scored. Hedges converted to take the lead for the red and greens by 12-10. On the following set, Aaron Booth went himself, breaking through before passing on to Jacob McCudden who was caught just short. But McCudden would offload to a flying Hedges before being grounded – the five eighth scoring before adding the extras himself to make it 18-10 going into the sheds. After the break, a string of penalties to the Dragons put them on the front foot, allowing hooker Ryan Fletcher to dive over from dummy-half. James made no mistake with the conversion from short-range to make it a two-point ball-game at 18-16. The Dragons would go back on the attack again and it would be Carr who would show plenty of pace to outrun the Rabbitohs defence to score his second of the evening. James added the extras to make it 20-18. With 10 minutes in the match remaining, the Dragons’ Jacob Host hit a short-ball at speed before crashing over to extend the Saints’ lead. James again added the extras from right in front to make it 26-18. Tempers flared in the closing stages of the match with a minor scuffle breaking out as the siren sounded.
Eden Syme was sent off in the 79th minute for fighting

LOSS 20-27
Late Changes - Schaumkel, Lee, Mauala are out. Reddy and Manuleleua start on the wing, Gosiewski and Georgorius on the bench.
The North Sydney Bears went down to the Wentworthville Magpies at North Sydney Oval on Sunday in a tight affair by 27-20. An early hat-trick to bright-spark Magpies halfback Beau Henry put the visitors on the right foot early, and despite a spirited come-back from the Bears, they never fully recovered from the early onslaught. All of North Sydney’s points came from Rabbitohs players, with Cody Walker bagging a try-scoring double, while Joel Reddy and Jack Gosiewski also crossed for four-pointers. Darren Nicholls kicked two goals to round out the Bears’ points. The Bears started the match well, scoring first inside the opening 10 minutes of play with Walker’s first try – Nicholls unable to convert leaving the score at 4-0 early. But the advantage would be short-lived. Just two minutes later, Magpies Henry crossed the line for the first of his three tries. Henry converted his own try to take the lead for his side by 6-4. Henry was having the game of his life and was at it again in the 17th and 25th minutes by grabbing two more four-pointers. Despite his prowess in general play though, his kicking failed to procure more points when it came to the conversions, leaving the score at 16-4. The Bears’ problems would be compounded two minutes from half-time when a penalty to the Magpies saw Henry take the opportunity to kick his team further ahead by 18-4 going into the sheds. Norths rallied upon returning to the field in the second half and it would be five-eighth Walker who would go in for his second – Nicholls adding the extras to narrow the gap to eight points. The fightback continued and by the 55th minute, Joel Reddy was defying the Magpies defence out wide to slide in next to the corner-post to bring the score to 18-14. Wenty would go in again to take their lead out to 22-14, but Norths weren’t quite done. Jack Gosiewski slid over for a try of his own for the red and black’s before Nicholls added the extras to make it 22-20 in Wenty’s favour. The day would ultimately belong to the Magpies though – the visitors scoring another try as well as a field-goal to Henry to bring the final score to 27-20.
