Glenn Stewart Released
9th September 2015
The South Sydney Rabbitohs have agreed to a request from Glenn Stewart to release him from the final year of his contract, at the completion of the 2015 season, with Stewart set to extend his playing career overseas. Stewart was contracted for season 2016 but has the opportunity to take up an extended contract in the Super League. Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire thanked Stewart for his service this year, but Glenn’s job is not finished at South Sydney. “Glenn came to us with an opportunity recently for him to lengthen his career for both him and his family overseas and we have granted him the release as of the end of this season,” Coach Maguire said. “Glenn has done a fantastic job for us so far this year and his commitments to this Club are not yet over. “We look forward to continuing our journey this year with Glenn as part of the team, and we will then wish him luck with his future endeavours once this season has come to a close.” Stewart said he will be giving his all to the Rabbitohs for the remainder of the season. “I’m grateful to the Club for allowing me to take this opportunity next year, but that’s next year, and we still have things we want to achieve this year,” Stewart said. “I’ll be doing everything I can to help this team achieve those goals. “I want to thank all of the players, coaches, staff and the Members for making me feel so welcome this year and I’ll be putting in everything on the field to pay that back to the Club before the season is over.”
