20th January 2016
After the desappointmets in how 2015 ended its time to start a new year as we refocus towards 22. Its been a difficult end to the year with a lot of change occuring. There may have been too many front office changes with Souths not dealing well with the aftermath of success and this has had a flow on effect. Time to start again a new season beckons.
I can't remember a off season like the one we just had with players being released on mass Stewart, Grant, Dylan Walker and McQueen. But behind every change comes a opportunity for someone. Looking forward to who will step up in 2016.
Another year another high turnover. But this yera we see a number of players stepping up from U20's with a more targeted selection process under Gardner. The Bears are looking like they will have a good season and build upon their progress back into the 8 last year.
After the disappointments of finishing last in 2015 its not surprising to see the amount of change occuring in our U20s squad as we rebuild. We were U18 grand finalists last year so many opportunities for players to step up.
After 12 months the NRL released his much anticipated NRL Tiwr 2 blueprint. And it went down like a lead ballon in club land. The push to merge junior leagues in inner Sydney was not accepted and was likened to Super League mark II. But the concept to merge CRL and NSWRL and bring NSW Country areas into the NSW Cup is a step in the right direction. Lets hope that remains long term. The blueprint was then handed over to the QRL and NSWRL so we still need to wait and see how its evolves from a strategy paper into a day to day reality.
