Inglis Imortalised in Wax

Rabbitohs captain Greg Inglis had the honour of unveiling his own wax likeness at Madame Tussaud’s Sydney today (Tuesday), immortalising him as one of Australia’s leading sporting figures. Standing alongside fellow sporting greats like Sir Donald Bradman, Shane Warne, Cathy Freeman and Sachin Tendulkar, ‘GI’ was blown away when he saw his twin for the first time. Joined by family and friends at the unveiling in Darling Harbour, Inglis spoke about how honoured he was to be included in the all-new Sports Zone at Madame Tussaud’s Sydney, and the process he went through to design the wax figure which included five hours of posing and taking of measurements to ensure the incredible likeness was just right. In August 2015, Greg underwent a ‘sitting’ with Madame Tussauds’ studio artists in Sydney, to begin the intricate wax figure making process. The expert team took approximately 250 measurements and photographs of Greg holding his pose and expressions, to perfectly match everything from his hair and eye colours to his tattoos. From start to finish, the whole figure making process took the team of Madame Tussauds’ artists and sculptors a total of four months to recreate his exact likeness – including individually inserting every single hair strand, a process which took one month alone.
