LOSS 4-54
The South Sydney Rabbitohs have been defeat 54-4 by the Canberra Raiders at ANZ Stadium on today (Sunday). Trailing for the duration of the match, the Rabbitohs were unable to keep themselves in the contest as the Raiders showcased some brilliant attack to claim a ten tries to one victory. The Raiders would register the first points of the match in the 5th minute, as Aiden Sezer delivering a pin-point kick to Jordan Rapana who marked the ball before offloading to Elliott Whitehead, with the English international strolling over for the first four-pointer of the afternoon. Jarrod Croker’s conversion attempt failed to find the mark, meaning the score would remain at 4-0. The Rabbitohs less than ideal start to the match would continue when Luke Keary hobbled from the field in the 11th minute. The five-eighth would fail to take any further part in the match. Despite finding themselves on the back foot early, the Rabbitohs would find some rhythm, securing two repeat sets off the back of some promising attack. However, the home side was unable to make the most of their opportunities, coming up empty handed. Instead, the Raiders would be next to score, as Jordan Rapana darted out of dummy-half, exploiting a lapse in the Rabbitohs defence and muscling his way over. The extras would be added by Croker, leaving the score at 10-0 in favour of the visitors. With momentum well and truly with the visitors, the onslaught, would continue, as Aiden Sezer’s boot once again proved to be deadly, with the halfback finding Edrick Lee with a well-weighted grubber kick as the winger crossed out wide. Croker was unsuccessful with the conversion leaving the advantage at 14 points. It wouldn’t be long before the Raiders extended their lead, with Joseph Leilua busting through the South Sydney defence to streak away and score. Croker had no issues adding the extras as the lead extended beyond three converted tries at 20-0. Canberra’s dominance on the edges would continue, as Jordan Rapana capitalised on a grubber from Joseph Leilua before the siren to complete his first-half double. The Raiders skipper was successful from the sideline meaning the score would be 26-0 heading into the sheds. On resumption, the away side would pick up where they left off, as Jack Wighton scooped up a loose ball to run away and score against the run of play. Once again, Croker was on target, adding the extras to set up a 32-0 score line. The Rabbitohs would eventually claim their maiden points of the match, as Rabbitohs veteran, John Sutton took on the Raiders line, barging over and scoring his 50th NRL try. Adam Reynolds first conversion attempt was waved away as the score remained 32-4. Despite opening their account for the afternoon, the Rabbitohs would find themselves defending their line soon after, as the Raiders continued to bombard their goal line. The defence would eventually crack as Jarrod Croker finished off some enterprising second phase play. Croker failed to provide further impact to the score line, as the margin remained 36-4. The Raiders would continue to add to their tally off the back of a slick backline play, with Blake Austin busting through the defence to score his first of the match. Croker added the two-points setting up at 42-4 score. Points continued to follow as Elliott Whitehead claimed his double off the back of some brilliant work from Joseph Leilua and Jordan Rapana. Croker made no error with the conversion, providing at 44-point buffer. The final points of the match would be secured soon after as Iosia Soliola broke the line, finding himself in open space before diving over. Croker slotted the extras with the score finishing at 54-4.

U20 National Youth Holden Cup - Round 21
v Canberra, 11:45am
LOSS 10-48
Late Changes - Coleman and Cottrell are out. Leddy starts half, McCudden second row. Brock Gray is captain.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs went down to Canberra Raiders 48-10 in the Holden Cup in a high try scoring game at ANZ stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Rabbitohs showed promising patches in attack and defence but couldn’t keep it up for the full 80 minutes with the Raiders claiming victory with nine tries to two. The Rabbitohs controlled the possession in the first few minutes of the game but a fumbled pass along the back line saw the Raiders scoop up the loose ball and run the 65m to see Tom Hickson open the scoring. The conversion attempt was unsuccessful and the Raiders led 4 points to zero in the 7th minute. Canberra added another six points through a try from Jared Tuite and a successful conversion by Zac Woolford. The Rabbitohs kept their composure but a gap in their defence resulted in a third try for the Raiders through Thomas Cronan and the side extended their lead with a successful conversion by Zac Woolford. Closing in on half time the Rabbitohs saw the Raiders try line numerous times but the decision to run the ball on the last instead of kicking cost the side potential repeat sets. Yet the Rabbitohs saw their hard work pay off when Kalani Ili collected a pass and ran straight through Raiders defence claiming a four-pointer and the first points for the home side. Chad O’Donnell narrowed in on the visitors adding two points with a successful conversion. The Raiders however were quick to retaliate and with quick passes along the back line, Jack Hickson added his second four-pointer. Conversion was successful and the Rabbitohs fell behind 22 points to 6 going in to the sheds at half time. The second half saw a more determined Rabbitohs side and with three minutes in the team saw the try line and Haimona Hiroti reached out scoring for the home side. But the Raiders wouldn’t let the Rabbitohs have their time and the Raiders Harry Van Dartel leapt for the try line adding yet another four-pointer. The conversion was wide but the Raiders led 26 points to 10 until the 65th minute saw the team find the try line again and convert a simple kick in front of goals. The Rabbitohs had some catching up to do falling 22 points behind. The Raiders went on the score three more tries handing Jack Hickson a hat-trick after collecting a grubber on a completed set. Bailey Hartwig and Zeik Foster claimed their first tries for the game.

WIN 34-10
Late Changes - Tasi and Saumamao are out. Robinson starts fullback, Joe Burgess left wing, Siejka prop, Murray second row, Schaumkel and Mauala on the bench.
A first half half hat-trick by Joe Burgess set up a 34-10 victory for the Bears over Wyong Roos at Morrie Breen Oval. Both teams had eight wins a piece heading into this round and a victory today was important for their semi final aspirations. It was Wyong who would take the early lead with a successful Tyler Cornish penalty kick. That goal would be the only joy Roos fans would have as the Bears stuck their claws in. Abbas Miski almost got over the line for the Bears, but on the next play winger Joe Burgess scored in the left corner to open the account for the Bears. Norths went on the attack again and looked like scoring until Omar Slaimankhel intercepted and ran 80 metres until Eli Levido ran him down in a tackle that would have made Scott Sattler proud. There were some physical collisions throughout the first half, with Joseph Manu coming off second best making a tackle, but the young centre recovered to pick up a loose ball and earn his side a penalty. The game was held up again for a few minutes whilst Jack Siejka got some running repairs, sporting a nice bandage across his face. Dane Neilson showed his class drawing his man, before backing up on the inside to score a good Bears try. Levido added the extras for the Bears to lead 10-2 after 27 minutes. North Sydney were well on top making strong metres up the middle, which allowed the backs plenty of room on the edges. A nicely weighted cross kick from Levido was marked by Burgess in the corner for the Englishman's second of the day. Wyong came back and attacked the Bears try line but again they came up empty handed. The Bears got themselves out of trouble and Burgess made his old team mates pay, charging through the line to dash 60 metres for his hat trick. Levido added the extras and it was 20 points to 2 at half time. Wyong were literally running up hill the second half, three converted tries behind the Bears and Morrie Breen Oval slopes from north to south made the job hard. The Roos had the majority of the ball early in the second half, but could not convert into points. It was a different story for North's though, scoring their fifth try thanks to Latrell Robinson backing up Sitveni Moceidreke to score right in front. Levido converted the try and the Bears led 26-2 after 55 minutes. Frustration was creeping into the Roos game. Falling off tackles and poor discipline was inviting the Bears to build up their tally. Bears skipper Brad Deitz darted over from dummy half and Levido converted to make it 32-2. For and Against was becoming an issue for the Roos and they needed to stop the flow of points or score some. Mitchell Frei did that by scoring the Roos first try of the day. Tensions boiled over 10 minutes out from full time with both teams getting up close and personal with a bit of push and shove. Referee Mr. Cassidy was in the thick of it and gave Wyong's Dom Reardon and Bears Brad Deitz a 10-minute rest in the sin bin. Things were still heated out in the middle and moments later the Bears were reduced to 11 men when Jack Siejka was sent to the bin. As the game went into the final minutes, Levido added an extra two points to make it 34-6, then Jai Ingram scored for the Roos near full time to finish up proceedings at 34-10. It was a strong effort by all wearing the red, black and white of North Sydney and that win will no doubt give them confidence heading into the final rounds.
