Josh Cook 2018-19 Contract Extension
17th October 2017
The South Sydney Rabbitohs are excited to have extended the contract of young hooker Josh Cook until at least the end of the 2019 season. Cook, 18, is a hooker who represented South Sydney at SG Ball under 18s and Harold Matthews under 16s levels, and was part of the Rabbitohs’ under 20s squad in 2017. A La Perouse Panthers and Coogee-Randwick Wombats junior, Cook represented the NSW under 16s in 2015 and the NSW Indigenous under 16s in the same year.
Rabbitohs Head Coach Anthony Seibold is pleased to see a talented young hooker such as Cook deciding to pursue his future with the South Sydney Club. “Josh is a South Sydney junior who has come through the junior representative program at Souths and he has the potential to become a quality dummy half in the game,” Coach Seibold said. “Both he and us are excited to see him get back out on the park this pre-season after an injury-interrupted season in 2017, and he will improve physically and in his skill level out of dummy half with a big pre-season in front of him. “We feel he has the potential to become a top level dummy half and he has shown he has the willingness and worth ethic to put in the efforts that are required to, firstly get back out on the field, and secondly to put his best foot forward and show everyone what he can do.”
