South Sydney are back on top of the NRL ! What a return to form for this team, 8 wins in a row and finally as the rep periods byes end we are on top of the ladder, for the first time since round 2 2016. But not only are are we on top of the mens but we also lead the womens comp. We still need one more wins to make the finals. And in a battle for a Top 4 finish.
Cook sensation at Origin
Damien Cook has been a revelation at SOO level and if a Australian team was being picked today he should make the national hooking role. Lets home all goes well for him for the rest of the season and he gets his well deserved Kangaroo jersey.
Rodwell and Johnstone next rep step
Our next two stars of the future made their appearance in the U20s SOO. Both have been playing extremely well for the Bears and were sorely missed on the weekend. A pair of strong forwards to keep a eye on for the future.
Girls ready to cement top spot
Well the girls got back on the right track after the tough representative period with strong win over top 5 candidate Cabramatta. Simon has been on fire with 5 tries in two games and O'Mealey is steering the ship very well. Now for their final game to wrap up the minor premiership.
NRL taking interest in International Rugby League
After the travel debacle for the Kiwis in the Denver Test when they wanted to stay on for a day befoe flying home, only to be see the area hit by a storm that grounded all flights. The NRL has decided to step in a propose a revised mid season test schedule during SOO. This includes the Kiwis playing in a new version of the old Pacific Cup to be called teh Oceania Cup. Also poposed is a International 9s fixture in 2018 and a return of the Kangaroo Tour. This has to be reviewed and ratified by the RLIF. But it is good to see the NRL finally taking notice that people play RL beyond the shores of Australia.
