WIN 30-10
The South Sydney Rabbitohs have stamped their premiership credentials with a commanding 30-10 win over the New Zealand Warriors at Mt Smart Stadium. With the Burgess brothers running rampant and captain Greg Inglis tuning up for Origin with a powerhouse display, the Rabbitohs ran in five tries to two. The signs were good early for the Warriors, who scored through Agnatius Paasi in the fifth minute on the back of a glut of possession. When Thomas Burgess was sent to the sin bin in the ninth minute for repeated South Sydney infringements the Warriors had the ideal opportunity to stretch their lead. Instead it was the Rabbitohs who lifted, scoring tries through George Burgess and Robert Jennings, who finished off brilliant lead-up work by John Sutton, Cody Walker and Inglis. Inglis grabbed a try of his own in the 30th minute courtesy of a great flick pass by Angus Crichton and the Rabbitohs were out to 16-6. Perhaps summing up the Warriors' night, Isaac Luke put the kick off out on the full and the visitors capitalised when Thomas Burgess left Bunty Afoa and Simon Mannering in his wake to score. If the Warriors were to mount a comeback they needed to be first to score after the break but it was the Rabbitohs who went further ahead through veteran back-rower John Sutton. Now in his 15th season at Redfern and playing some of the best footy of his career, Sutton made the Warriors' defence look second rate as the score ballooned out to 28-6. Sutton almost made it a double in the 63rd minute when he grubbered the ball through but knocked on while trying to regather the ball just short of the line. Tohu Harris was ruled to have impeded Sutton on the chase and was sent to the sin bin. Reynolds landed the penalty goal to take the Rabbitohs out to 30-6. A late try to Solomone Kata was little consolation for Stephen Kearney's men who have now lost four of their past seven after starting the year 5-0. In stark contrast to South Sydney's slick attack, the Warriors lacked direction with Shaun Johnson and Mason Lino both missing. The move of Peta Hiku to No.6 to partner Blake Green in the halves came up well short as poor last-tackle options cruelled any chance of a Warriors revival. To make matters worse for the home side, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck left the field late in the match with what appeared to be an ankle injury. Blues Origin hopeful Damien Cook and young winger Campbell Graham were also in fine form as the Rabbitohs made it four wins on the trot to leapfrog the Warriors

WIN 16-10
Late Changes - Farah,Fuimaono, Turner, Am.Vaematahau are out. Burns starts centre, Brittain hooker, Nicholls prop, Britt and Butler second row, Rodwell lock, Leulai and Sabutuey on the bench. A valiant defensive performance has inspired the Bears to a 16-10 victory over the Wentworthville Magpies in a brutally-absorbing affair at Ringrose Park on Sunday afternoon. Connor Tracey proved instrumental in the Bears fifth win of the season with some spirited runs and a handy try-assist for Mawene Hiroti, while Billy Brittain added significant spark at hooker and provided a clever kick for Sean Sabutey in the second-half which ultimately proved the difference. Despite the best efforts of Arana Taumata and Yileen Gordon, who lifted his side with some powerful tackles in the second stanza, they were unable to carry momentum into the second-half with the scores locked at 10-all at the break. The Magpies got off to a blistering start after a determined run down the right-hand touchline from Eddie Aiono saw the winger brush off a host of clutching defenders for the first try of the afternoon. The Bears had a host of chances to salvage a try of their own shortly after with repeated sets on the opposition goal-line but were unable to find a breakthrough as the committed Magpies defence held strong. They would reap the rewards just moments later after a charge down from the Bears saw a foot-race follow, with Dean Britt poking the ball forward for Tracey as he dived on the loose-ball for an unlikely try. Dean Hawkins converted to take a 6-4 lead after 20 minutes. While both sides were working their way into the contest with some brutal defensive efforts, Tracey proved the difference once again with a perfectly timed pass sending Hiroti over in the left-hand corner. An error off the ensuing set gifted the Magpies the perfect chance to hit back in the closing stages, with Josh Hoffman on the end of a classy backline movement as he crossed for a crucial try despite the best efforts of Braidon Burns to hold him out. Nathan Davis nailed the sideline conversion to draw the game level at 10-all at half-time. The Bears snatched the lead when Sabutey crossed in the right-hand corner just 10 minutes after the break, before a brutal tackle on their own goal-line shortly after kept the Magpies out after back-to-back sets. A Hawkins penalty-goal extended their lead to one converted try with just under 20-minutes remaining, but an error off the kick-off gave Wentworthville another chance to hit-back although they were unable to take advantage. Just when the Bears threatened for another try in the dying stages, a Davis intercept saw the winger streak down the left-hand flank only to be caught 20-metres out by the desperate Bears defence. Just a few tackles later, a dart out of dummy-half from Reed Mahoney looked to have been enough for the crucial try, but the referee ruled he knocked-on in the process of scoring. Despite the best efforts of the Magpies to draw the game level, it was to no avail as the Bears held on for a gutsy 16-10 victory.

NSWRL Women's Premiership - Round 9
v Wentworthville, Norford Park, Sat May 26 2:00pm
WIN 78-2
Late Changes - Riley and Tallon ae out. Mikayla Baker starts hooker, Kershaw and Taupau on the bench. The South Sydney Rabbitohs women's team have returned to winning ways with a 78-2 victory over the Wentworthville Magpies at Norford Oval. Six tries from winger Taleena Simon and a hat-trick from fullback Nakia Davis-Welsh was the highlight of the match as the Rabbitohs proved too strong for struggling Magpies. Nakia Davis-Welsh opened up the Red and Green's try fest with a quick-fire double inside the first five minutes of the match. The Rabbitohs then piled on the points with four tries in ten minutes, Taleena Simon scored twice, while opposite winger Ianeta Baker and halfback Maddie Studdon chipped in with their own four-pointers giving Souths a 38-0 lead with only 15 minutes gone in the match. The match then turned into the Simon show as the talented winger turned on the style scoring three tires back-to-back dancing and weaving her way through the defence with ease. Centre Karri Doyle wrapped up the half with a try for herself while Studdon put in an impressive performance with the boot to give the Rabbitohs a 62-2 lead. The second half wasn't as high paced as the first as the Rabbitohs women slotted back into third gear. However, there were still a few players who wanted in on the try scoring action. Returning captain Lavina O'Mealey capped off her comeback into the squad with a try for herself, which was converted by Studdon giving the Rabbitohs an unassailable lead. However, the Rabbitohs were finished yet as the two stars of the match Davis-Welsh and Simon capped the individual performance with late tries. Davis-Welsh was first to touchdown capping off a hat trick on her return to the fullback position as she split the defence right open to score next to the post, making it easy work for Studdon to add the extras. Simon then finished off the incredible Souths' performance with her sixth try of the match crossing over out wide to wrap up a fantastic win the for the girls in Cardinal and Myrtle, continuing their unbeaten run in 2018.
