Farah Released Pre-June 30 2018

20th June 2018

Hooker Robbie Farah has been granted a release from the remainder of his playing contract, effective immediately, to return to his previous club, the Wests Tigers. Farah played 26 games for South Sydney over the past two seasons, celebrating the 250th NRL game of his career against the Newcastle Knights last year.

Rabbitohs Head Coach, Anthony Seibold, said: "I really want to thank Robbie for his service to our Club over the past 18 months. He showed his professionalism every single day through some challenging times for him. I'm sorry to see him go and personally I will miss having him around the team, but our decision to grant him a release is based on what we think is the best thing for him. We had a great working relationship and I wish him the best of luck for the future."

Rabbitohs General Manager of Football, Shane Richardson, said: "Robbie earned the respect of everyone at our Club and we're paying him the respect he deserves by granting this contract release for him to return to the club which he sees as his home. He did a great job for us over the past two seasons but he wanted to go back to the Tigers to finish his career and we thought he deserved to finish up in the way he saw fit. Simply, it was the right thing to do by Robbie and this is the right decision for our Club as well. We wish him and his family the best of luck for the rest of this season and we're sure he will be a success in whatever he chooses to do in life after football."

Farah says he will look back fondly on his time with South Sydney. "I would like to thank everyone involved at Souths for everything over the last 18 months, in particular the playing group, Anthony Seibold and all of the Members," Farah said. "It's not an easy decision for me to leave the Club as I've formed many great friendships in my time at the Rabbitohs. I would like to thank 'Seibs' and 'Richo' for allowing me the opportunity to return to my former club and finish my career there. I will forever be grateful for my time at South Sydney and am so proud to be part of the history of such a great club. I wish them all the success this year and moving forward into the future."
