WIN 38-0
There was fight, but still no bite as the Bulldogs slumped to a series of horror scoring statistics that rank among the worst in almost a century of rugby league after a 38-0 thumping from South Sydney. For the third consecutive game, Canterbury couldn't score a point, joining only the ASADA-scandal rocked Sharks of 2014 in playing four straight hours of footy without a point. With only 16 points to show for Canterbury's first month of footy, all of them coming in a round one loss to Newcastle, number crunchers were trawling all the way past the Great Depression for a slimmer haul. The 1928 Glebe outfit trump this Bulldogs side with 12 from the opening four matches of that season. The Dirty Reds only lasted one more year in the competition. Rounding out a miserable four weeks that come after a miserable four years, this is now Canterbury's worst start to a season in 50 years. Not since 1971 have Canterbury been winless after the opening month, with South Sydney in cruise control for a decent portion of their six-tries-to-zip Good Friday victory. Just five minutes in the writing was on the wall for Canterbury and curly questions were being asked aloud, when Lachlan Lewis's head was crunched in an attempted tackle on Josh Mansour. After a tough opening period, it was the Rabbitohs right side the scoring when a inside step from Mansour off Mitchell opening the scoring, 6 nil. A crusher tackle on Murray on the goal line saw Reynolds add a penalty goal. Damien Cook had threatened to unpick Canterbury's ruck defence as though opening a locked door with a hairpin. By the 32nd minute, he was doing just that for Cody Walker to score the simplest of support tries. 14 nil. It remainded that way until halftime. In the 55th the Cook Walker show repeated the dose from 60 metres out, as Cook went up the middle and Walker had his second for the day. 5 minutes later it was a lovely cross field kick saw Johnston score as the scoreline raced out to 26 nil. With 15 miuntes to Cook was given a rest, and it was time for some Mitchell magic as he kicked in behind the line for Mitchell to score next to the posts. In the final play of the day Reynolds charged down a Bulldogs kick to run 60 metres to score, taking his tally for the game to 18 points. Cook had himself a day out two line breaks for tries and 134 running metres – a triple-figure mark he passed seven times in his breakout 2018 season, only for this to be his third 100 metres-plus haul since. In between Walker's two tries, the South Sydney playmaker let his aggression get the better of him when he landed an elbow to the back of Nick Meaney's head. That and a crusher tackle from Keaon Koloamatangi were two of the few blemishes on South Sydney's afternoon, while Meaney didn't last the day due to broken ribs, just to rub salt into very open blue and white wounds. As his wont, if Wayne Bennett was impressed by the Rabbitohs showing, he wasn't showing it afterwards. "I just thought the continuity in our game wasn't there, [there] was a lot of stop start stuff," Bennett said.

Reserve Grade - NSW Premiership Round 4
v Mt Pritchard, Aubry Keech Reserve, Sat Apr 3 3:00pm
WIN 24-22
Late Changes - South Sydney were 1 to 17. Souths get the chocolates in an Easter win over new Canterbury feeder club the Mounties. A bumper Easter crowd was on hand at a sun-drenched Aubrey Keech Reserve hoping for the home team to continue their strong start to the 2021 season. But they would leave disappointed as the visitors, with South Sydney emerging victorious to the tune of 24-22. Mounties were first to score with a try underneath the posts through prop forward Vincent Rennie who proved too difficult to stop close to the line, off a Bradley Deitz cut out pass, to give the hosts a 6-0 an early advantage after 10 minutes. Mounties errors inside their own half finally enabled Souths to level the scores after 18 minutes through centre Steven Marsters, who went over untouched after some great lead up work by half Dean Hawkins caught the Mounties’ left edge defence napping. Eventually Mounties broke the deadline with a barging try to backrower Dean Matterson to give the home side a handy 10-6 leading up to the half time break. Ioelu had the opportunity to score in the corner with Mounties having made the overlap only for the winger to fumble the pass with the try line beckoning and Souths were perhaps a little fortunate to be trailing by four points at halftime. Against the run of play Souths worked play down the entire length of the field before scoring an early second half converted try through fullback Jacob Gagai to suddenly lead for the first time, 12-10. Souths, now playing with renewed confidence scored again in the 61st minute, opted to run it on the last tackle with Gagai finding prop James Hasson in support to score next to the posts and the visitors established the biggest lead of the game at 18-10. A third consecutive try to Souths, saw them capitalising on a long-range intercept to score on the next play through Joe Lovodua, who all but sealed the first win of the season for the Rabbitohs. Ioelu at his third attempt, finally pulled one back for Mounties with an individual effort in the 72nd minute but the home side by that stage had left it too little, too late despite trailing by just the 8 points. Having lost Dean Matterson through concussion, Mounties centre Aaron Schoupp set up a grandstand finish scoring off a Souths error at the scrum, putting his side within just the two with three minutes remaining. Schoupp looking threatening again after breaking through Mounties defensive line in a last effort play to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Despite his best efforts, play broke down soon after and the Rabbitohs prevailed to earn their first win of the season.

NSWRL U21 Jersey Flegg - Round 4
v Canterbury, Stadium Australia, Fri Apr 2 1:45pm
WIN 25-24
Late Changes - Chanfoon is out. Puru started at prop, Akauola-Laula at second row, Ratumaitavuki on the bench, with Dan Robinson added to the bench. South Sydney Rabbitohs Jersey Flegg Cup halfback Lachlan Ilias nailed a drop goal in the final moments to down the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 25-24 at Stadium Australia on Friday afternoon. It was a huge victory for the Rabbitohs after staging an unlikely comeback from a 20-6 deficit at the break. The Bulldogs scored the opener through winger Laitia Moceidreke in the third minute before South Sydney’s Cameron Akauola Laula equalised 10 minutes later. Canterbury-Bankstown produced three more tries including Moceidreke’s second before halftime. Ilias crossed for a much needed Rabbitohs try in the early stages of the second half, yet the South Sydney captain’s big moment came just one minute from fulltime. Ilias caught the ball from hooker Peter Mamouzelos on last tackle and kicked the one-pointer from 18 metres out to secure victory.
