WIN 60-22
The South Sydney Rabbitohs have soared to their seventh straight victory dominating the New Zealand Warriors 60 points to 22 on the Sunshine Coast on Saturday afternoon. It's the 4th time in Rabbitohs history that the Club has amassed 60 points, and the 2nd time this year that the Rabbitohs have won 7 matches straight, cementing their place in third spot on the premiership ladder entering the championship rounds of the season. The Warriors enjoyed a dream start to the afternoon when a Cody Walker pass uncharacteristically missed its mark, allowing Dallin Watene-Zelezniak to pounce on the loose ball and race 70 meters to score. For the next 20 minutes, however, it was one-way traffic for the Rabbitohs, who ran in 6 unanswered tries to take control of the match. The hit back started with two quick tries on back-to-back sets for the Rabbitohs; the first set up by a Rhys Walsh bomb that sailed out on full giving the Thomas Burgess the opportunity to crash over for four points, and the second coming after the Warriors restart was taken dead on the full by Latrell Mitchell setting up field position for a right-side raid capped off by Jaxson Paulo bringing the scores to 10 points to 6 after 12 minutes. Big Tom Burgess made it a first-half double crashing over from close range shortly after, and a flash of brilliance from Latrell Mitchell set up Cameron Murray for the Rabbitohs' next four-pointer in the 25th minute. With three players dragging him to the ground, the Rabbitohs fullback managed to free his left arm to give the offload around the back of the Warriors defender allowing Murray to cross the stripe untouched. Latrell was at it again just moments later rampaging down the right edge finally being dragged down just a few meters short of the line, and on the following play, it was Cody Walker who found a gap in the line to cross for the Rabbitohs 5th try. Jadyn Su'a crossed for the Rabbitohs 6th try in the first half storming onto a nice short ball from Adam Reynolds, before the Warriors hit back with two tries of their own to close out the first half, the first through Marcelo Montoya on the left and the follow up down the right side through Kodi Nikorima just before the break bringing the scores to 34 points to 16 at the break. Jadyn Su'a kicked off the scoring with a double of his own, the first of his career, to begin the second half and steady the ship for the Rabbitohs after the Warriors fast finish to the first half, powering over the try line with two Warriors attempting to bring him to the ground. Josh Mansour was back on the scorer's sheet in his return match with 2 tries in 2 minutes to bring up 50 points for the Rabbitohs. Rhys Walsh got one back for the Warriors in the 65th minute winning the race to the ball on a neat set play kicking back through the middle, but the Rabbitohs responded a few minutes later with Keaon Koloamatangi, who ran for over 160 metres in the match, getting amongst the try-scoring action. Latrell Mitchell bullied his way over the line to bring up 60 points for the fourth time in Rabbitohs history when he ran straight through 2 Warriors defenders close to the line.
