Strong win on Holiday Strip
After a week off the team was firing on all cylinders as we saw many players starting to make the return after a extended break from injury. Our left edge was firing and what was pleasing to see was our right edge also causing damage. But after a steady start we came home stronger in the second half. But defensive lapses on our right side continue to be a worry in 2022. Still 6 more wins to make the finals.
Alex Johnston 150th try
Alex Johnston scored another hatrick of tries to make it 6 tries in two games, and become the first Rabbitoh to score 150 first grade tries. He moved into outright NRL season try scorer and 15th person to pass 150 tries in first grade. Well done and we look forward to many more.
Cartwright returns
Its been a steady strong return from a back injury for Jed Cartwright, who has been out for the whole season thus far. With the loss of Host he will become a vital member of the squad at second row.
Giles another strong game
In a tough season, one standout has been capatin and prop Thomas Giles who continue to lead from the front. Good to see him bag another try too.
Girls open the account
As the season winds down our girls finally opened their account with a strong win over Wentworthville. Good games from hooker Aiton and lock Seli Mailangi set the mood. With Johnston back at second row setup Constable nicely. But after getting front there was a tough final 30 minutes the girls tackled everything to hang on for a very good first up win.
NRLW Expands
It was very good to see the NRLW continue its plan of expansion, with 4 teams added in 2023, rather than the planned 2. South Sydney put forward their submission to enter in 2024, as it co-incidnces with opening of our new Center of Excellence at Heffron Park. We continue to head towards a scenario of all NRL clubs having a NRLW team, so crossing our fingers we will be next. Everything the NRL has asked for is now in place, so hopefully we will see ome good news soon.
