Important 2 points
Another game where our backup team needed to do the job while Cook and Murray were being rested after Origin. It was a tough game where we could have easily lost, as Canterbury took up a offload game plan. We are still leaking too many points. Again another important two points as we came home strong to make it 3 from 3 wins and we get a 4 point buffer on 9th spot. Still 4 more wins to make the finals. Now for our bogey team the Storm where a win will see us pushing for a Top 4 finish or a loss will see us in a fight to finish in the Top 8.
Mitchell Power display
Latrell Mitchell has put in one of his best ever performances for the Rabbitohs, as he took leadership role to another level. Leading a remarkable comeback with one of the most powerful tries scored, reminancant of GI as he broke through the middle of the Dogs team brushing off defenders with ease. Add to this his 3 try assists and it was a dominate display as he lifted the inaugural Mortimer-McCarthy Cup.
Cody Hodge rotten luck
Cody Hodge has been one of the finds so far this season, scoring another try and showing his powerful running style. But he surcomed to a shoulder injury and had to leave the game. He will be missed as we continue our fight for the top 8.
Bijorac returns
It was dominate display by Zane Bijorac as he made his return from inury in U21s. He will need to work hard as he has the ability to push his way into the reserve grade team if injuries arise.
3 Grade day called off again
As a regional fan its getting very frustrating to see lower grade games played at different venues and days. Our U21s game was played on Saturday while our main game was on Sunday. The cost of petrol and inflation is making it very hard for fans to go to games when you do not live local, We really need to improve our game day scheduling between NRL and NSWRL. There is no reason why almost all NSW Cup and U21 games can't be lined up as all NSW based clubs have U21 and NSW Cup teams. For clubs like Norths, Newtown, Blacktown and Mounties they easily could be aligned with regional clubs like Brisbane, Nth Qld, Gold Coast, Warriors and Melbourne in the draw.
