Finally a win over the Storm
4 from 4 wins and a win over the Storm for the first time since 2018. This has set us up for a possible Top 4 challenge. It was a very strong defensive effort as we held them out with some quality goal line defense. Our forwards took up the challenge and allowed our skilled spine to lay 5 tries one. Still 3 more wins to make the finals. Now for a trip to Shark Park at least weather will be good today.
Koloamatangi domanice
What a great performance by Keaon Kolomatangi. The "Koala" set the platform by scoring the opening try, setting up the matchwinner to Ilias, and a huge running display. In recent weeks he has played the back end of games in the middle. And like in the lower grades he will soon be a damaging middle forward also in first grade. With his ball playing skills he will cause a lot of trouble to opposition teams.
Thompson hattrick
The race is one on who will be the top club try scorer in 2022. Issac Thompson moved back to the wing after a few weeks in the centres when he returned from injury and immediately scored another 3 tries. That takes his season tally 18 while AJ scored another two to take his tally to 21. I would like to see how Thompson handles right wing as he could be a leathal combination with AJ.
Bijorac rewarded
After another dominate display in U21s Bijorac has been rewarded by being selected on the extended bench in first grade. I suspect he will remain as 18th man as U21s are playing before the NRL match while the NSW Cup team is on the road at Henson Park.
Captains Challenge debacle
What a disaster match when a after full-time captains challenge was allowed after fulltime. We need to review when a challenge can occur. Allowing a challenge for a non challengable event becuase fulltime siren had sounded is not in the spirit of the game. While in principal Captains Challenge allows a error to be corrected, but we now see it used to give a team a vital 2 min rest when under the pump, or as occurred back in NYC U20s a challenge would be called just to hope to get a favourable result as the game draws to close by the team just behind on the scoreboard. As a fan the stoppages for non events become so frustrating to watch. We need to review when challenges can occur as a fulltime challenge for a non challengable event like a tackle should never be allowed.
