George Piggins FG Player Of The Year - Jai Arrow
Rabbitohs forward Jai Arrow has claimed the George Piggins Medal as South Sydney’s best and fairest player of the 2025 season, presented at the Royal Randwick Racecourse tonight by the grandson of George Piggins, Brogan Piggins, and a former player under George Piggins and current Recruitment and Retention Manager, Mark Ellison. Arrow, a Queensland State of Origin representative, played in all 24 games for South Sydney in 2025 which was a season riddled with injuries to the broader squad. Arrow has played every position in the forward pack for South Sydney this season, including dummy half. He scored two tries, made two line breaks, seven offloads, 850 tackles at a tackle efficiency of over 93%, averaging 99 running metres per match, and even kicked for 49 metres! Arrow, Rabbitohs first grade players number 1166, had the privilege of captaining the Rabbitohs on three occasions this season, becoming the Club’s 132nd first grade captain, and was part of South Sydney’s leadership group from the start of the season. His leadership qualities shone through in 2025, leading a young and inexperienced forward pack in every game this season. His passion for the Rabbitohs and teammates was on display every time he took to the field this year. The George Piggins Medal is awarded to the best and fairest player at the South Sydney Rabbitohs in any given season. It is named after one of the most revered figures in South Sydney history, George Piggins, a Life Member who led the Rabbitohs as a premiership-winning player, coach and administrator over a 40-year period. The George Piggins Medal was Arrow’s third award for the night, having previously been awarded the Bob McCarthy Clubperson of the Year award and the Souths Cares award for contributions to the community. Arrow was also the Rabbitohs’ nominee for the NRL’s Ken Stephen Medal – Man of the Year, for which he is a finalist. Congratulations to Jai Arrow on winning his first George Piggins Medal for his ‘never say die’ performances throughout the 2025 season.
Jack Rayner Players Player Of The Year - Jye Gray
South Sydney Rabbitohs fullback Jye Gray has been crowned the Jack Rayner Players’ Player award winner for season 2025, presented by South Sydney premiership-winning player and current NRL Football Manager, Jason Clark, at tonight’s Red and Green Ball. Voted by the players following each game of the season, Gray was the leader after round 27, with his performance against in the final round deciding the winner. Gray finished slightly ahead of forwards Tallis Duncan and Keaon Koloamatangi once all votes from the season were tallied. Gray had a stellar season for what was just his second year in the NRL. Playing in 19 games this year, he scored five tries and registered six try assists. He amassed 61 tackle breaks and eight line breaks throughout the season. Gray led the Dally M awards voting early in the season before injury took him out of play for a number of weeks. When he returned to the field, he showed exactly what he is made of, playing a variety of positions including fullback and five-eighth, lighting up stadiums all around the country with his pace and evasiveness. The Players' Player award is named after legendary Rabbitohs player and coach, Jack Rayner. Rayner won five Premierships with South Sydney in six seasons in the Club's golden era between 1950 and 1955, as both captain and captain/coach. His legacy at the Rabbitohs lives on to this day, remembered as an honest, tough, hardworking forward during the days when some of the most brutal Rugby League was played. Congratulations to Jye Gray on being crowned the Jack Rayner Players’ Player award winner by his teammates for the 2025 season, his fourth award for the 2025 season.
John Sattler Rookie Of The Year - Jamie Humphreys
Rabbitohs half Jamie Humphreys has won the John Sattler Rookie of the Year award for the 2025 season, presented by captain, teammate and former rookie of the year recipient, Cameron Murray, at the Royal Randwick Racecourse tonight. Humphreys, 23, joined the Rabbitohs this season from the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles and earned the Club’s number seven jersey with some great form in the pre-season trial matches. Humphreys has gone on to play 19 NRL games this season, scoring a try, kicking 15 goals, and a match-winning field goal in the Club’s round two victory over the Dragons in Wollongong. Humphreys, in his first full season of NRL football, has kicked for over 6000 metres, had four try assists, made almost 450 tackles at a tackle efficiency of over 90%, as well as running for an average of 57 metres per game. Humphreys eye-catching performances, particularly early in season, made him a strong contender for not only the Rabbitohs’ Rookie of the Year award, but also the NRL’s Dally M Rookie of the Year award in 2025. The Rookie of the Year award is named after one of South Sydney’s most inspirational players of all time in the form of the legendary John Sattler. Sattler captained the Rabbitohs to four Premiership victories in five years from 1967 to 1971, including the famous 1970 Grand Final in which he played for 77 minutes of the game with a jaw broken in three places. Off the field, Arrow’s commitment to community work is unmatched, winning the Souths Cares award for contributions to the community earlier tonight, as well as being the Club’s Ken Stephen Medal nominee for the NRL’s Man of the year award. Arrow also became a dad for the first time in 2025, with he and his partner welcoming daughter Ayla Rae to the world in April. Jai is a very positive influence around the club, acting as a leader, mentor and friend with everyone at the Club. The respect for Jai at the Club is displayed by the effect he has on people when they are in his company, and he is a worthy winner of the Bob McCarthy Clubperson of the Year award in 2025. The Clubperson of the Year award is named after Bob McCarthy, one of the Rabbitohs’ greatest players of all time. McCarthy was part of the Rabbitohs’ golden era in the 1960s and early 1970s, playing 211 first grade games in the cardinal and myrtle, scoring 100 tries. He is a multiple Premiership-winning legend of the South Sydney club and is a regular attendee at past players’ reunions and training sessions to this very day, offering his continued support to the current crop of Rabbitohs players. This is Jai’s second award of the night, having received the Souths Cares award for his outstanding contributions to the community earlier in the evening. Tackle of The Year - Jye Gray
Rabbitohs fullback Jye Gray has picked up the Macca’s Tackle of the Year award at tonight’s Red and Green Ball for his back-to-back efforts against the Parramatta Eels as part of the victory in round 24. Celebrating Indigenous Round, the Rabbitohs were up for the contest, with defence being the decisive factor. Eight minutes into the second half with Eels leading 12-10, Parramatta made a break down the left-hand-side of the field. Jack Williams broke the line and offloaded to Dylan Brown, who found fullback Isaiah Iongi. Iongi thought he could get past Jye, but he cut him down by the ankles just four metres short of the line and in front of the posts. From the play-the-ball, Gray found himself at marker. The Eels quickly played to their right and Gray dashed from marker to his left to try and cover a kick in the second line defence, however it became clear the Eels were trying to go back behind the ruck to score under the posts through former Rabbitoh, Dylan Walker. Gray changed tact, moved forward and to his right, making the vital try-saving tackle in conjunction with Tallis Duncan, thwarting any chance the Eels had of extending their lead. That defensive effort from the diminutive fullback gave his teammates energy, and helped the team fight their way to a 20-16 win. Gray received his Macca’s Tackle of the Year award at the Red and Green Ball tonight from NRL Assistant Coach Ben Hornby. Congratulations to Jye Gray on winning the Macca’s Tackle of the Year award for 2025.
Try of The Year - Tyrone Munro
The stunning ‘shake ‘n’ bake’ try scored by Rabbitohs winger Tyrone Munro in South Sydney’s 40-0 drubbing of the St George Illawarra Dragons in round 25 has been award the Macca’s Try of the Year award for season 2025. Members and supporters had the chance to vote for their try of the year and they selected this 85-metre stunner from the Botany Rams junior. Starting 15-metres out from his own line, Munro beats two Dragons’ defenders on the right edge, charging down the right-hand-side of the field over the halfway line. Dragons fullback Clint Gutherson was the last line of defence for Ty Ty to beat, and 40-metres out from the Dragons goal line he shimmied, he shook and he baked the experienced Gutherson to leave him for dust, eventually stepping off his left foot to get outside his opposite man and cruise the final 30-metres to score the most memorable try of the season! Channel 9 commentator Mat Thompson was screaming: “Get that into ya!” as Munro dived over the line to score another four-pointer for the men in red and green. Munro received his Try of the Year award at the Red and Green Ball tonight from NRL Assistant Coach Ben Hornby. Congratulations to Tyrone Munro on winning the Macca’s Try of the Year award for 2025.
