Not to be confused with John Anderson the New Zealand Rugby League International.
Anderson in 1935 was part of the South Sydney squad that made premiership decider. In 1933 Anderson won the Third Grade premiership with South Sydney. The following year in 1934 South Sydney he was part of reserve grade premiership winning squad.
Anderson was a South Sydney junior from Botany United who played junior reps with South Sydney between 1933 and 1934 with the U21 Presidents Cup teams. He also studied Science at Sydney University, playing with Faculty rugby league team.
He made his senior grade debut, with South Sydney Third Grade in 1933 Round 13 against University. The following year he progressed to Reserve Grade, before making his First Grade premiership debut in 1935 Round 1 against University at the Sydney Sports Ground.
Anderson would play 3 seasons for South Sydney. He would play only 7 First Grade games for South Sydney, which included 5 premiership games. He would play 32 career grade games for South Sydney, which included 30 premiership career grade games.
He had a short career in first grade playing his last premiership game in Round 11 1935 against Canterbury-Bankstown, finishing the rest of the year and his career in South Sydney Reserve Grade, as part of their finals campaign.
