Beddy was a South Sydney junior from Mascot. He was called up into grade in 1944 and made his senior grade club and premiership debut for South Sydney in the 1944 Round 8 Third Grade clash against St George at Hursville Oval. Two weeks later he stepped up into reserve grade in the 1944 Round 10 Reserve Grade clash against Western Suburbs at the Sports Ground. It would a year before he got his first grade opportunity when he made his first grade club debut in the 1945 mid-season tour clsh agains the Orange League in Orange. A year later when Clem Kennedy was injured he got his chance for his first grade debut in the 1946 Round 5 clash against St George at Hursville Oval.
Beddy was a lower grade half who was able to take opportunities when they occurred.
