Borger is a 1 time South Sydney Reserve Grade premiership winner in 1945.

Borger is a country boy from Kempsey and not be confused with his cousin M.J.Borger. Borger came to Sydney and played junior football for South Sydney in 1944 before being graded. He made his senior grade club and premiership debut in the 1944 Round 7 Third Grade clash against Eastern Suburbs at North Sydney Oval. The following year he stepped up into reserve grade in the 1945 Round 1 Reserve Grade clash against St George at the Sports Ground. A month later he was called up to make his first grade club and premiership debut in the 1945 Round 5 clash against Balmain at Leichhardt Oval.

Borger originally came down as a backline player before finding his place in the forwards.

Borger played 4 seasons with South Sydney between 1944 and 1947. He played 15 first grade club games for South Sydney, which included 12 first grade premiership games for South Sydney. Overall he played 55 senior grade career club games for South Sydney, which included 52 senior grade career premiership games.

Borger played his final first grade premiership game in the 1946 Round 12 clash against St George at Hurstville Oval. He played his final club game in the end of season tour match against Lithgow in Lithgow. He continued playing lower grades in 1947 playing his final senior grade club and premiership game in the 1947 Round 18 Reserve Grdae clash against North Sydney at Erskineville Oval. , before focusing on his medical degree at Sydney University. He returned as the clubs doctor and medical officer once he was qualified.
