Brown played in the 1939 premiership decider for South Sydney. He also played in the 1939 State Championship final for South Sydney.
Brown made his way to South Sydney from Wollongong. He made his first grade premiership and senior grade debut in the 1937 Round 1 clash against University at the Sports Ground.
He played 64 first grade games which included 51 first grade premiership games and 11 first grade cup games. He played all of his career in first grade.
Brown was renowned for being one of the most versitile players in the league, who played lock, prop and centre during his career.
Brown played his final first grade premiership game for South Sydney in the Round 14 1940 clash against North Sydney at North Sydney Oval.
