Eldest brother of the Burge family. Member of the 1905 South Sydney RU premiership winning team. He was a well establish New South Wales and Australian RU forward. He was one the Wallabies to come across to League at the end of 1909 season after he had broken his leg while on the Wallaby 1908-09 RU tour of England. Burge was paid £100 to come across to Rugby League. Burge made his South Sydney first grade club and premiership debut in the 1910 Round 5 clash against North Sydney at North Sydney Oval.
Burge was great forward in the scrummage and loose. Thoroughly at home when play is strenuous. Injury hampered his League playing career.
Burge played in 3 representaive games for the Wallabies verses the Kangaroos at the end of the 1909 season, before departing South Sydney.
Burge played 1 season with South Sydney in 1910. Playing only 1 first grade premiership game for South Sydney. At the end of the year he departed South Sydney along with his brother for Glebe.
