Cameron is a South Sydney junior, who played with the 1934 South Sydney U21 Presidents Cup team. Before 1934, he had never played football, but was selected for the U21 team after only three games. He made his senior grade debut in the 1935 Round 1 clash against University at the Sports Ground. He jumped reserve grade and was selected to make his first grade premiership debut in the 1935 Round 12 clash against North Sydney at North Sydney Oval.
Cameron played 8 first grade games, which included 3 first grade premiership games and 5 first grade cup games. He played 44 senior grade games, which included 34 premiership senior grade games and 10 cup senior grade games.
He played his final first grade game in the 1937 Round 9 City clash against Balmain at Leichhardt Oval.
