Fairall played in the 1939 premiership decider for South Sydney. He also played in the 1939 State Championship final for South Sydney.
Fairall is an established New South Wales and Australian player, who was a member of the 1937-38 Kangaroo tour before joining South Sydney. He made his first grade premiership debut in the 1938 Round 1 clash against Balmain at Leichhardt Oval.
Fairall, is short and stocky build hooker who is clever with his feet. He is a fine positional player, who never shirks the tough stuff.

Fairall enlisted mid year 1940, joining the war effort and serving in New Guinea and Syria with the Australian Signalman. In 1941, Fairall was playing Rugby League on the fields of Syria against England.
