Fullerton made his senior grade debut in the 1937 Round 7 Third Grade clash against Eastern Suburbs at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The following week saw him step into Reserve Grade for the Round 8 1937 clash against North Sydney at North Sydney Oval. Three weeks later he made his South Sydney first grade debut in the Round 1 City Cup clash against University at the Sports Ground.
Fullerton departed for Newtown for 2 seasons only to get caught up in a residency dispute upon his return He had illegally been playing with Newtown while residing in South Sydney district.
Upon his return and after serving a 4 match ban, he made his first grade premiership debut with South Sydney in the 1944 Round 5 clash against Balmain at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Fullerton played 3 seasons with South Sydney. He would play 10 first grade games with South Sydney, which included 7 first grade premiership games and 3 first grade cup games. He played 22 senior grade games with South Sydney, which included 11 senior grade premiership games and 11 senior grade cup games.
He played his final first grade premiership game in the 1944 Round 11 clash against Balmain at Leichhardt Oval.
